***Stanford Class of 2020 Applicant Discussion***

They’re out on the 15th right for REA right?

^ Most likely the 11th

@epoque same case here. I’ve literally had nightmares and fantasies about post-acceptance/rejection/deferral outcomes

I’m honestly getting a stomach ache just thinking about the 11th. :(( I seriously wish everyone the best of luck! We’re almost there!

@peachteas At this point I just want to know the news, either good or bad. I can’t even imagine being deferred and having to wait another 4 months :-S

I’ve always wondered how the adcoms keep track of the number of people they admit. Like, when the regional admissions officers go with around 100 possible admits from their region to the committees and Stanford only needs 15 from that region, do they just reject the rest after the first 15 are admitted?

Does every application get reviewed by the committee? I used to think that two admissions officers would read an individual application and give their take on it. If both say yes/no collectively then the application needs no more consideration. Only the on-the-fence kind of profile will be passed on to the big table. Is that right?

I’m not really sure of how it works but read this: https://alumni.stanford.edu/get/page/magazine/article/?article_id=66225

@SopheliaSavvy I got my info here http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/525551-advice-from-the-admissions-officer-who-admitted-me-to-stanford-for-hs-students.html but it’s from a couple of years back so I don’t know whether that has changed.
@hellolol very insightful read

Will Stanford email us as soon as results are out? Or will the decision be on the applicant website a few hours early, like at other schools?

I believe that they email us the results, with the actual decision in the email. In other words, there is no separate website, as far as I know.

@Spicykins Good to know. And the one I had in mind was the one they link you to when you apply that has the status of your submitted materials.

@kenyan254 I HAD ONE LAST NIGHT OH MY GOSH i was crying in it but i didnt know whether or not i got in

@SeaJake I had an interview in early November in the Seattle area. Did you ever get one?

Hey all! Looks like Columbia University is announcing their ED the 10th, way earlier than last year. I believe a few other ivies have this trend as well. Perhaps Stanford will cave to east coast competition and announce earlier as well? :smiley:

@violaqueen That’s interesting, do you know when Columbia announced ED last year?

@LikeThis Let me clarify, not way earlier compared to last year, I was thinking relative to the projected 15th date. Last year they released on the Friday before, and this year, the 10th is the Thursday. So it is still a day earlier than expected.

Has anyone called Stanford? My friend called Harvard about when they would release results and they immediately told her the date and time.

^^ if someone does, please post!! @bfb123

@violaqueen Oh, for hope.
