***Stanford Class of 2020 Applicant Discussion***

What did you all write about for the “what matters to you and why” prompt?

@dango98 was just about to ask this… i have like 3 different topics i wrote about hahhahaa

Okay. Just sent in my app… like 20 mins ago.

I am finally done with the app process. I don’t know how to feel.

@dango98 I wrote about how cultural diversity matters to me and tied it in to my family experiences

@sambrentgood I’m also from Utah. What high school do you attend?

Even though the REA admit rate is 2x as higher than the RD rate, are admission chances pretty much the same for RD?

@ayyyyyyy I believe so! Numbers-wise, it would appear that REA is more advantageous to apply (10% of 7,000 get in through REA while only 3% of 35,000 through RD). However, the higher REA admit rate is usually due to the concentration of highly competitive applicants applying at the same time, so academically, it’s harder to stand out.

They end up equalizing each other in the end.

What is the final date all scores need to be received by Stanford for RD?? They don’t specify on their website, it just says ASAP… i.e my ACT scores are not out yet…

@stamatious I’m taking an SAT in Jan that should be in time for RD. I swear they don’t even start to review applications until February, so they’ll often give a fair amount of lee-way- it’s why recommendations can come in later than usual… I think. And hope. haha

Anyone from the UK here? Tired of being all alone -_-

im not from the uk, but i do a levels

Anyone know when Stanford is going to release its results for RD?

@smartypants57 March 31st/April 1st

@pnguon is that official or assuming? Because I remember last year they announced it sometime around March 27th, and the website had said by April 1st.

Is anyone else having this problem? I submitted my common app and received an email allowing me to see the Application Status but it says it says “awaiting” for application, school report, transcript, etc.
Did they just not process it yet?

I’m hoping decisions come out a few days early so we can pay housing deposit for another school if needed before RD comes out as housing is assigned by payment date.

Do the essays have to be written like a story or can it just reference an important event and use some details?

so Stanford portal says does not have ACT score even though was requested same time and received by a different school 10 days ago. Does anyone know if schools download score periodically and maybe Stanford just doesn’t look for ACT that often? it’s really weird since 2 reports were requested on the same order and clearly another school got it.

Should you submit FAFSA before getting accepted or wait till you get accepted (seems like FAFSA submit deadline is before decision date)?

It seems FAFSA can only list 10 colleges. How do you submit for more than 10?

@shivaya I believe you can submit it multiple times, so you can just fill it out again and send it to another set of 10 colleges. Since the FAFSA submit deadline is before the decision date you should submit the FAFSA before you hear back (it’s free anyways) because they give you your financial aid package too if you are admitted.
