hahaha. ok people, it seems like it was a false alarm/system test like what happened with the berkeley portal. gone here too
@khanam @Ballerina016 Caltech had the upload feature for everyone - it’s so you can send updates and stuff as well, and is not specific to deferred folks (I was accepted EA there and have the upload feature as well - it’s been there since before EA results were out).
Also, this same topic was of concern in the Berkeley thread, and someone emailed admissions, who said that the upload feature only mattered for those who were asked to submit something. I would imagine it’s the same case here.
@khanam - Pending appeal : ) Bars? I think it sends the wrong message. Jail is imposed for the commission of felonies. It ain’t funny to me.
@yalebound2020 yeah, i didn’t even realize it had any meaning until i saw 2 users with bars. until then i thought someone changed their photo. i am not sure what the bars accomplish either.
@khanam - Specially when the administrator of Justice is biased. In this case, 2 people were discussing a topic. One, used epithets. Two used irony to fight back. Two went to jail, One didn’t. Multiple comments were erased. After April 1, I will voluntarily exit this forum. I don’t want to be Politically Correct said Mr. Rubio last night. I want to be CORRECT. Maybe in the near future this senseless concept of PC will give way to just correctness. The use of irony is not an indictable offense, Mr. Moderator!
@khanam the upload option just disappeared for me
@khanam - its gone now. They are probably getting the site ready for D-Day.
@yalebound2020 nicely put. well the bars are gone…
@sodapop027 @shivaya yeah the upload feature disappearing most probably had something to do with getting it ready for d-day. oddly, the same confusion happened on the berkeley portal too!
Hello, does Stanford normally accept international students without an interview?
@khanam - I had my bail hearing this morning and the DA decided to drop the charges 24 hours of good behavior while incarcerated.
@yalebound2020 hahahaha!!! in my days, slipping the cop a 20 always helped. this entire bars over the bulldog log was quite funny. i landed, replied to emails, then in the car ride to the hotel, checked in into CC and there they were! i initially thought you changed your profile photo and then saw another one with bars and then realized that something had happened and you 2 are in detention! that is what i found funny - being in virtual jail. The concept of a virtual jail is interesting in the context of “2nd life” communities and alternate personas that can be created by just using a different email. How can one be truly controlled in forums such as these and hence what exactly is the point of incarcerating anyone?
Just checked my portal and there is no upload button. I wish I had seen this earlier haha.
Are you guys certain it’s March 25th just because the deferral letter said so? My Yale deferral letter said “I will write to inform you in April”, but Ivy Day this year is March 31st.
@kuriosmind Hmm then I’m not so sure. Let’s hope…
@khanam - I understood the Moderators’ position. The overall idea is to stay within the boundaries of good taste. I agree. My objective when i signed up was to gather information that can’t be obtained elsewhere. This forum provided me with that; and, at the very least, I should adhere to its rules and regs. Have a great weekend. Next week there are plenty of decisions coming out. The rest before the 31st. PS: the Yale forum has very interesting comments by some parents. Take a peek.
@yalebound2020 Haha the entire conversation on mottos is ridiculous. Have you already been accepted to Yale?
Yep… and yes, Mr. shivaya enjoys talking about the light and truth a bit too much. I’ve told him to lay off the hallucinogens to no avail.
@Rubisco228 hi im international (Hong Kong) and had an interview for Stanford. But i don’t think it mattered that much . the guys didn’t ask me any questions we just chatted. but of luck to u! we shall all find out soon
@yalebound2020 - Its not hallucinogens but questioning “status quo” or hopefully matching Stanford’s statement: “intellectual vitality”.
@shivaya - you have to lighten up! In what state did you attend HS?
