I have my interview this weekend… I have no idea what to say or what to wear. :-/ Has anyone here had a Stanford interview before?

REA app deadline for those who were unable to submit last night due to unexpected system closure has been extended to Nov 2 at 11:59pm (PST)
Alumni interviews with Stanford are generally pretty informal. DD wore nice pants and a cute top. Nothing fancy. Her interviewer was also casually dressed. The interview was more like a fun chat about Stanford than anything else. They aren’t trying to trip you up or catch you on anything. Just go prepared to talk about anything that’s unique about you and have a few questions about Stanford that can’t be answered by looking at their website.
(I know people have wildly different views on what to wear to an interview. This perspective is from the casual northwest! However, Stanford is a pretty casual place, so unless you are meeting for your interview in a formal place of business, just make sure you are neatly and cleanly dressed and you’ll be fine!)
Has anyone in Michigan gotten an interview? If so what city(approximately) are you from
I’m mulling over whether or not to apply to Stanford. I’m already applying to 10 places, but I recently got a fee waiver to Northwestern. Because of that, I feel I can apply to another place. But if I do, that means I have to go through another application, and another interview added to the four I’m already going to do. What do you guys think?
It really just comes down to whether or not you want to go to Stanford or not
Anyone from New York get an interview? Also, how do they determine who gets them besides geographical considerations?
Does anyone else’s application profile say Stanford is “awaiting” their ACT/SAT? I sent my scores more than a month ago so should I be worried?
The limiting factor for interviews is alumni volunteers.
If you look on the Stanford website, you will see the geographic areas in which they will offer interviews this cycle.
already applied ED!
@jgreg30 - what state are you from?
Has anyone in PA gotten an interview? If so what city?
Hi friends,
I’m in NJ and just scheduled an interview for Stanford (applying REA).
Does anyone know what to expect? I’m pretty awful when it comes to talking… I have trouble forming sentences and conveying my ideas when I speak, so this should be really fun.
What type of questions will most likely be asked? What type of questions should I ask?
This is my first interview ever, so any help will be greatly appreciated.
How do you know if you’ve been given an interview? do you get a separate email from Stanford or does it appear on your application status page?
@vd2000 you get an email from whoever’s giving the interview
@Tomirok My custom application page still says it’s awaiting scores and I’m getting anxious as well. I even prioritied my scores, so I hope they get them soon!
@Tomirok @afamelas Oh good, I’m not the only one. I was super anxious about it too, but if you guys have a problem, its probably across the board and a problem on Stanford’s side, not ours
A little sad to know that the extra money to prioritize my scores was for a waste
Hey guys! Applied REA from India, and just got an email from a Stanford alumnus about an interview. Does anyone here know how many people get interviews internationally?
Stanford assigns interviews according to availability of alumni interviewers.
@PhilaSkiMom I am from Minnesota
@potatoheadhala You got an interview? I’m from Delhi and I applied REA too. Where’d you apply from? I hope I get one too.
