***Stanford Class of 2020 Applicant Discussion***

I am an applicant from India (applied with aid). How is Stanford with aid for internationals? I have already got deferred by Columbia and waitlisted at UChicago.

@vk1499 most schools, even many ivy leagues, try not to grant financial aid to international. It does lower your chance at Stanford, if I remember correctly.

just saying, I’m not trying to be offensive or anything. simply stating the facts that they stated

@parent of senior girl, why do you hate on my grind? I’m merely successful entirely due to my elevated test scores. Does your daughter have a 2400 so I can room with her? xD

@Bellalestrange Yeah, I am from India, but nope, didn’t get an interview due to the reason my friend has already stated.

And @Bluebrry although it is difficult to get financial aid, no Ivies discriminate against international students (except Cornell, they are kinda on the borderline), as per what info I have read. And I believe Stanford is the same. But I am not sure, there’s a mixed record of outcomes. Sometimes they provide significant aid, as the international candidate helps in bringing diversity in their classes.

@blazedragon heard from one admission officer I know that they do(he used to be yale admissions officer), though they don’t state it outright for publicity. I mean, I’ve never seen anyone around me get financial aid as international. there are some, true, but it seems certain that it does lower the chances. anyways, I want to wish all you guys luck!

@blazedragon http://admission.stanford.edu/application/international/ check out the section on financial aid.
international applicant here too!

@plutolove Well, thanks for the link, but us internationals should remain hopeful! Can’t really fret about aid right now, though. Getting accepted is more important, although it seems my financial aid requirement might hamper me :)) But it’s alright. They do accept people, so I am going to stay optimistic.

It seems like there are a lot of international students this year (although I am from Oregon). I wonder what the ratio of international applicants to domestic applicants is.

@CoralReef19 around 10 percent. But the acceptance rate for international is much lower, especially if you’re from china, korea, or india. stanford has around 5% acceptance rate. international, we have around 1-2%

sucks to be international. (I’m one of them)

is the acceptance rate that low for internationals?!
Oh well, all I guess I can do at this point is hope that it helps coming from a tiny country with very few applicants :stuck_out_tongue:

@MIA2020 it won’t hurt for you. it only hurts those in china, korea, and india. you’re fine

I have never been so anxious for anything ever.
I woke up from a dream I got rejected. I was so glad I woke up. But Friday will be real :((

@ThatGirlCoder I swear to god, the opposite is way worse! I dreamt that I was accepted a few days ago, and so when I woke up I was insanely happy for like one minute before I realized it was all a VERY unrealistic dream… Worst feeling ever.

@MIA2020 Wow, that definitely sounds a lot worse. I’m praying I get the opposite of my dream and yours comes true!!! :))

Good luck everyone, this waiting…

Its okay! The past few days I have been getting acceptance dreams. That’s all I have been able to dream and think about. It’s terrible!

Update: Just opened a fortune cookie that said “If you dream it, you can become it” :))

GOOD LUCK GUYS

fingers crossed I don’t get differed despite my perfect 2400 >:)
