@bellbeast Stop annoying him. He’s got better things to do than to reply back to you. Really.
@itfollows2014 Wonderful… I am in the same camp: Chemistry test on Tuesday and an Extended Essay to finish. Oh, I also have an MIT application that I would rather finish soon than leave it for later.
@itfollows2014 I feel like productivity is only going to go down as this week moves on
I have like three classes with a peer that also applied REA, and my biggest fear is that only of us will get accepted. If I get accepted and he doesn’t, then I’ll feel terrible because he’s SUCH an amazing person, and if he gets accepted and I don’t, then I don’t want him to feel awkward around me, ya know? I’d want him to enjoy his acceptance to the fullest and not tip-toe around me. Is anyone else also having the same dilemma?
@SingHar17 I’m in the same position…I have 5 close friends in my class applying REA. The way we cope with it is knowing that Stanford is so amazing that if even one of us get in we will be happy for him or her! It’s so competitive that one acceptance is celebrated. I would tell you friend that either way you guys will still hang out and not be jealous or sad for each other.
@December9th2016 Yeah, definitely. I’d bring him cookies or something if he got in. I think we’re the only two applying REA, and then we have about 14 others that are applying RD. It’s crazy competitive, so in all honesty, I don’t think jealousy works in this situation, because the chances of the person in your high school “stealing your spot” are lower than my motivation right now, haha. I’m just getting super nervous as the date comes up.
@Helium9 Ohhh good luck with the MIT application! I’m actually kind of glad the UC apps are due so early so now I can focus on my EE but I’ll actually just be too busy stressing about the REA decisions
@December9th2016 Productivity will be at an all time low on and anxiety at an all time high on Friday
@SingHar17 Exactly. All that’s left is hope and chance! Good luck to both you and your friend…I’ll be rooting for you!
@itfollows2014 I’m not sure how I am going to make it through this week, but I really should start that paper! Good luck to you also! I hope to see all of us posting accepted on the results forum Friday at 4!
@itfollows2014 I applied to a few UC schools as well; I am glad that’s over.
@December9th2016 Hopefully they release their decisions by 3 or 4 PST. I live in GMT+2, which is 10 hours ahead, so I will probably stay up until that time…
So happy that I finished the bulk of my EE over the summer!
@December9th2016 Wouldn’t that be amazing?
@Helium9 Last year was at 4 PST, but before it has been at 3. @engageStanford on twitter will mention the time on December 7th, if they follow their previous patterns.
@alr33zy Miracles can happen! haha Everytime I look at the chances (especially since I have no hooks), I realize how lucky it is to get that acceptance letter! Hope is all that’s left.
Lastly, do you guys think that they have already made all of their decisions? Or do they work until the last minute like my English paper? :))
@December9th2016 Good luck to you and your friends as well!! You’re very lucky to have such supportive people around you.
QUESTION: Is the “thick envelope” versus “thin envelope” a thing for Stanford? I’m not too well-versed in Stanford’s decision release practices, but I know that there’s some colleges that send the same type of envelope to everyone and the only difference is whether first line of the letter is “congratulations” or “we regret to inform you,” and then for those accepted, they get another package in a few days, and then there’s college that literally put the “Congratulations” on the outside of the envelope, and then there’s colleges that send rejections in simple envelopes and then acceptances in big manila packet type things. Does anyone know how Stanford does it?
@SingHar17 Stanford simply sends an email saying to view your portal. You login, click on an update, and then there’s a pdf letter in front of you either saying you made it or not.
@December9th2016 I don’t know how to feel about that, lol.
DD and her best friend both applied REA. Both are amazing girls. I cannot imagine how this will go down, but I do recall from my high school grad year (early 90s, I know I am old!), we had an incredibly smart class and just that year, they took all 6 of us who applied! Every other year was either 1 or 2 for many years before AND after. So I do feel like if they LOVE the candidates and they are a right match, there is not a limit or quote from one school.
All 6 of us are close to this day and count our blessings for getting in that year!
@kath00 That’s so cool! I can’t imagine how elated I’d be if I got in with my friends, and it’s great that you’re all still friends. Best of luck to your child!
@kath00 That is awesome! Literally the same thing here, always one or two, but that is it…maybe this is the year that changes! Thanks for the encouragement
Nobody from my school has gone to Stanford in about a decade…
@Helium9 It’s been exactly 5 years for us as well! We had a guy that got into MIT, but not UCLA, and two girls that got into Harvard, Yale, and Columbia, but neither got into Stanford.
I’m pretty sure that no one at my school has every gotten in!
Which is crazy because an alumnus from my school actually works as an admissions officer for Stanford (Minnesota region).
