is a 31 good for URM
Would http://engage.stanford.edu/ being under maintenance be a good sign?
@vasodys I don’t think so, I had visited the website a week ago and it was under maintenance.
@tacanadian Sorry, I was at a soccer game and just saw this. Fingers crossed they take more than one Houstonian!
@moroccan99 Damn, I thought it was a clue. I’ll keep checking either way
@vasodys I know that feeling… The first time I saw the admit stanford website I thought also that it was a sign xD
@fgcollegehopeful That’s the Russian spirit… to never give up! I am Russian too:) One of the guest speakers in my S’ school (with 20+ years of college admissions experience) put it rightly for all of us: “What’s important is not where you child will go, but what your child will do where he/she goes.”
@vasodys The time displayed on Twitter is determined by the timezone in your Twitter settings.
I guess I’ll have to wait till 3 a.m
If they are out at 3 p.m. I’ll have to wait till 11 pm
The announcement last year was at about 5 pm so that would be 3 a.m for me. The decisions were released at 4 last year and 3 the years before that so not quite sure about this year
@vasodys Is applying to American universities a popular thing in Cyprus ?
@moroccan99 Not at all. Very few people bother, because public schools push you towards a Cypriot or Greek University and private schools push you towards a University in the UK.
@vasodys Didn’t the government pay you to attend Cypriot universities (at least a few years ago)?
@Helium9 I honestly have no idea. I went to a private school so I was never informed about Cypriot universities.
@vasodys It’s the same thing here in Morocco, students are more interested in attending a Moroccan or a French university since our educational system is based on Arabic and French.
@moroccan99 Exactly. UK universities never interested me, not sure exactly why. When I visited some of the schools in California though, I just felt at home. Plus, the weather here is pretty similar to CA xD
@vasodys For me, the idea of applying to American universities is new, I’ve decided to do so during this summer when I knew that I could be eligible for financial aid. But I think that’s pretty hard with a 1350 on the SAT…
@moroccan99 where else have you applied if you don’t mind me asking?
@vasodys I applied to Jacobs in Germany, and I’m applying to a bunch of other schools regular (dartmouth, hamilton, colby, bard, bates, bennington, amherst and other small colleges…). I’ve only chosen schools that provide financial aid to international students. What about you ?
