Stanford Class of 2021 Applicant Discussion

@CiteYourSources it might sting for a bit, but if you are the person that is Stanford caliber, it will motivate you. I applied to all ivies and Stanford last year, and got rejected everywhere.Looking back, I knew I didn’t have a shot. This pushed me to work harder than ever to improve under every aspect to get where I wanted to get.
Be happy for the opportunity and be proud of yourself, as many are even afraid to take the chance to apply to Stanford because they “already know they’ll get rejected”, and miss out on possibly, one of the greatest opportunities of their lives!

Website under maintenance… hmmm… ;))

@SortOfAThrowAway it’s been under maintenance for a while

@SortOfAThrowAway It redirects me to admission.stanford.edu

im scared

@ASAPJAZZY no point. Decisions are already made. You should know that what happens tomorrow is for the best and you’ll be accepted where you best fit. That’s the reason admissions offices exist.

Guessing I didn’t get accepted anyways, so I just won’t worry about it
However, if I get in, I’ll be off the walls

The discussion seems awfully quiet these few hours… The calm before the storm?

There is no point worrying. Just take the decision without any extreme emotions.

@Helium9 Kinda hard to do when you’ve been dreaming of going to Stanford for years, but I’ll try lol.

@vasodys I’ll TRY to sleep soon after I get my decision :stuck_out_tongue: It will be difficult for sure… Best of luck to you, and everyone else.

@Helium9 I couldn’t sleep after reading the tweet yesterday, let alone the actual decision. I feel like this forum has made me a lot more stressed than I would have been lol

I think the problem with rejection is not the rejection itself, but the absence of closure. We never know why we get rejected so we get even more crushed when we feel like it was simply because we aren’t good enough or something else. I don’t know if I would want to know why, if I was rejected, but I would probably get over it quicker.

@vasodys Last night, I slept pretty normally. I did wake up at 5:00, so I quickly checked the Twitter feed and saw the tweet. Then, I managed to sleep a bit more. Sometimes I can make such small deals of big things…

This forum has stressed me out as well. So many qualified students…

@CiteYourSources Definitely would get over it quicker. I’d want to find out why though to know how much it would affect the rest of the schools’ decisions and also what I’d need to improve. I mean if you pass, they tell you why, why not when you don’t xD That would take them so long though

@Helium9 I kinda brought it on to myself by setting an alarm at 3 a.m to check the twitter. At least decisions come out at 1 a.m so I’ll just stay up. I wouldn’t be able to sleep either way

@Helium9 me too, woke up at 4 am Eastafrican time to check the tweet. I am so nervous. I wish I could sleep then wake up when they’ve already released them.

Everybody just remain calm.I know I’m trying to

@xoxo254 Would you mind if I ask you where you are from?

I will try to continue with my life as if nothing happened… I hope I can do that.

@Helium9 I’m from Kenya
You?

I also hope I can. Waiting is so draining though

@xoxo254 Nice! I’m Chinese, but I currently live in Greece.

Waiting is a pain… But try to find other things to do, such as other college apps, homework, or just something that you enjoy doing. Time will pass by much quicker, and you’ll also be more productive.

@xoxo254 Cool! Finally found another african, I’m from Morocco by the way (in case you didn’t notice it from my username xD)
