Exceptions
The student may apply to any college/university with early deadlines for scholarships or special academic programs as long as the decision is non-binding and in order to be considered for the program, the student must apply in the early round or by an early deadline.
The student may apply to any public college/university with a non-binding early application option.
The student may apply to any college/university with a non-binding rolling admission process.
The student may apply to any foreign college/university on any application schedule.
Also I really think reading college confidential is toxic because so many people on here boast their stats and ECs… the whole point of college admissions is not to see how you compare and if you have similar credentials to other people, but to show how you are unique. So don’t freak yourself out by reading these kids who have national robotics awards, who run their own companies, or who have done some pretty remarkable things, because striving towards other people’s success negates your individuality.
So how do the exceptions to REA at Stanford apply to any of the ivies? I can’t think of any special program or scholarship they have that requires you to apply early for consideration. It’s possible I missed one, but my daughter really struggled with where to apply early and we definitely didn’t find any way to apply early to an ivy in addition to Stanford. Is this maybe available for athletes? This specifically came up in sessions with admissions officers and all said this wasn’t allowed. I know Vanderbilt requires early submission for their scholarship info, but as few of the ivies have scholarships not sure how it applies to them. Going to feel really sad if I find out my daughter could have applied to an Ivy early as well as Stanford.
@caspiancat your D was not supposed to apply REA to Stanford and an Ivy. Don’t feel bad–she did it correctly.

You cannot apply to any other Ivy ED /SCEA if you do SCEA to Stanford.

I’m counting down in CSU Expository lol, good luck to everyone and remember just applying is a HUGE step don’t take everything to heart. Selective schools are super competitive, especially in our generation.
