I probably will do that! The wait is killing me though, specially with all this argument about whether or not an alumni interview actually means you’re being strongly considered cause I got one and I got rejected and waitlisted to a bunch of the other schools I applied to except for my safeties so I really need it. @dowzerw
@bros20000 i got into cornell without an interview. meanwhile, got an interview for harvard and columbia and got rejected. dont stress!!
Don’t worry about it too much! I got into Tufts and Hopkins (both with academic excellence mentorships/ scholarships), as well as Wesleyan without ever having an interview. I also got into UPenn having only a stilted 20-minute phone interview with a graduate student. I don’t think it matters much @bros20000
@js7234
I think at least for Stanford, it is confirmed that getting an interview means you are being seriously considered for admission. I’ve read it online from alumni, and I heard it first-hand from my alumni interviewer. Note that if you did do poorly on the interview, or you were not as expected, then the interview will have a negative impact and lead to a rejection.
@EPFutbol thank you for the info. And I didn’t do poorly in the interview, it was quite the opposite. My interviewer and I had a great conversation about our backgrounds and who we both are as people and what not. He told me I would be his last ever interview because his kids are entering their senior year next year, and he hoped he’d get the chance to call me when decisions get released to tell me I got in, however, he has no control over it. I left the interview that day thinking I really actually have a chance.
@EPFutbol I actually got an interview but I feel like I did terrible… how much would it affect?
@js7234
Well hopefully good news comes your way then, 2 and a half hours until decision are released.
@Jise82938
You may think you did terrible, but maybe your interviewer found just what they were looking for. It is subjective to each and every interviewer, good luck!
Just wondering , was there an official announcement that results will be out at 4 PST?
HI, which part?
I got an interview for Stanford in January. It actually started out badly since I was supposed to send a confirmation email on the Monday of the week of the interview (it was on a Thursday). I was really busy with my senior project that week and gave her the confirmation two days late. DOH!!! I was absolutely crushed. CRUSHED!!! That had absolutely never happened to me before. And, I put five different active reminders on my calendar app, but never heard them or saw them. I sent her the email two days late and apologized. In the end, the interview went really well and actually ran over with her saying she thought I was Stanford material and she was keeping her fingers crossed for me. But I have always wondered if that was a test and I failed it.
@blmom1 yep stanford admissions posted it on their twitter!
Thanks!
Is no one else from the Caribbean freaking out like me?
when are decisions being released?
The results come out at 3:30 AM in my timezone. RIP lol
7pm EST, boutta take an L
@EPFutbol
I’m very familiar with the interview/admission process at Stanford, and I believe your perspective on interviews is not accurate. The distribution of interviews has everything to do with availability of alumni, and virtually nothing to do with qualifications of the candidates. In fact, many interviews are assigned before applications are even reviewed. Until recently, they didn’t even conduct interviews in California due to the daunting number of applicants. I personally know a number of students who were accepted without interviews.
