Stanford University Transfer Fall 2010

Thanks #tomraskin190
I have been finding it hard to get people to chance me. I guess it is because I have a very different background from the normal person on this site. I have had a person tell me on here that I am low on extra curricular activities. I thought that was absurd - I have an extensive leadership background to say the least. I hope we can both make it in to Stanford because of our background.

Good luck to both of you!

Did anyone here try the “trick”? How in the hell did they get the audacity to check?

I’m freaking out!

What’s the ‘trick’? Haha

Considering the one guy supposedly got his admission revoked, I think attempting the trick might not be the best course of action.

Two more weeks… (Most likely a little less time than that, as I’ve yet to see them actually make it to the deadline.)

Dubbie, thats pretty ridiculous for someone to tell you that you need more EC’s after serving in the Israeli military. I am confident that the admissions officers are a little more intelligent than whoever made that comment to you. Whoever said that needs to get a clue…serving in the military and in combat versus pounding some nails in for Habitat for Humanity hardly compare. You did your community service

^^ Serving in the military vs. “pounding in some nails for habitat for humanity” = incomparable. For you to downgrade one and propel the other is entirely unfair and unwarranted. There’s different context for both.

One is helping humanity as a whole through philanthropy, one is defending country and a defense of people through nationalism and service. Both admirable and completely different. Don’t bring that kind of close minded opinion to Stanford.

yes I have done my share of both. I don’t need your definition of either. I was merely letting dubbie know that he has done enough community service to have a fair shot at acceptance, he needs not worry. My intention was not to downgrade habitat for humanity, an organization that I regularly volunteer with.

But what do I know, I’m just a old army vet from Wisconsin.

Either way, I am not applying until the fall of 2011. Perhaps I should remove myself from this thread, I was just curious to see my chances. Good luck to you all!

Anxiety levels/restlessness rising arghhhh

Indeed, 11 more days, at most.

it’s been quite the ride over here on my end. i don’t know about you, but i’ve mulled over this for weeks on end and have come to some pretty okay realizations. it’s cliche but nevertheless reassuring, and what i’ve come up with is this: whatever happens happens; what will be will simply be.

i presume that we all have our back-ups of choice?

Stanford is my back-up.

^^ lol

I’ve got my backups: UCLA, UC Berkeley and NYU.
But still, Stanford would be real nice.

…Phew!!
Take it as a compliment, lol personally you seem like as close a lock as can be with Stanford. So I’m a little happy I’m not competing for a spot against you.

Moving on though…I’ve virtually put Stanford out of my mind, so I’m at a good place :)

Can’t wait till this comes out!!! Any updates?

I’m backed up at berkeley and san Luis obispo!

How is everyone doing so far?

@kapitanemo Niko huli ka!

i’m with mojavemocha on this one; i’ve been keeping myself quite busy these past few weeks. it helps particularly knowing that my backups did not fail me!

I’ve already SIRed to UCLA, prepped my email, housing, financial aid and signed up for orientation day. Because essentially, no one is getting into Stanford.

10 days till we find out though.
