Stanford University Transfer Fall 2010

Dubbie81:
My friend transferred to Stanford after getting his GED years later. His story would inspire many people to apply, I know for a fact that Stanford really appreciates giving students a second chance with their education. My friend dropped out of high school to help raise his child, now, he’s a lawyer in Seattle and is very successful. I hope you wrote on your essays the reason why you decided to get your GED; I know that you will truly stand out.
I wish you the best, and know that If Stanford is not your destination you will be successful nonetheless. As to your question about the GED certificate, I don’t know. You might want to contact a regional counselor.
Best,
HH

An Update on Transfer Admission Decisions & Our Waitlist

May 7, 2010

Students who have accepted a spot on our waitlist and transfer students should be aware of these updates.

Stanford will be admitting a small number of students (20-30) from our freshman waitlist later this month. Students will initially be notified by way of email and we will communicate with all students holding a space on our waitlist at that time. We are no longer considering any new materials (e.g. letters of recommendation), so students holding a space on the waitlist should refrain from submitting any such materials.

Transfer admission decisions will be mailed by way of email no later than May 15. We understand that transfer candidates often need to let their current college or university know of their fall enrollment plans, but we cannot provide admission decisions until May 15.

No number on how many Transfers… damn.

And definitely not until the 15th. Which is wierd, because I thought they said the fourteenth somewhere else. :frowning: Which is a Saturday (will they be there to send the emails on a Saturday?)

I thought that was odd too. They usually do it on the 13/14th. We’ll see I suppose.

The earlier e-mail I got from them said the 14th, I think the 15th is just the catch all date that everyone should have a decision or something.

Which e-mail are you referring to?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/1064616685-post133.html</a> this one

@thelongshot, or @anyone for that matter: odd question–what was the subject title for the email reply you received from Stanford? Did it begin with RE: or FW:?

@thelongshot, also, did the email contain the admission officer’s personal contact information?

Mine didn’t contain a RE: or FW:. I had already been in contact with him prior to that question so in m Gmail is was just the next email in our conversation.

And yes he did but the contents of the email as well as his contact info are confidential so I’m unfortunately not able to provide them.

That’s alright. Fortunately, I only asked whether he had provided them, not whether you would.

Then I’m glad I answered your question as well as providing additional information.

And I’m very grateful for such infinite generosity ;)

Lol anytime.

Is everyone who applies to Stanford a smart ass? If I should be fortunate enough to go then that’s an atmosphere I can definitely jive with :)

Longest week ever gooo

I made a countdown, but it doesn’t show up… It keeps looking at me every time I turn on my computer!

ah, my soul mates for the week. i’m glad i found you. there’s some comfort in knowing i’m not suffering alone.

it’s been a tedious journey and now we are down to the wire. this week will soon pass and the decisions will come.

the best of luck :)

Good luck everyone, let’s hope for the best.
