Stanford Waitlist class of 2018 Discussion

I didn’t apply for aid
@rishabmeh3 you say if I didn’t apply for aid it would not hamper my chances right

For the love of god I hope they use the wait list this year. Hopefully the yield rate didn’t go up by too much.

Idk they have never released the decisions past May 14th based on my research. Idk what’s taking so long.

But since they accepted less students in prediction of a higher yield rate and @FUnderwood‌ said that his friend said that the yield rate this year was as expected, it probably went up :(

But even if the yield goes up, isn’t it in Stanford’s interest to take a few off the waitlist? Or each year less and less students are going to accept a place on it (like at MIT), which isnt good for Stanford either (they annually need a well rounded demographic pool to “pluck” from). People area already less invested if the activity of this forum is an indication of anything. From my research, two years seems to have been the max…Harvard, (whose yield is 82%!!) still consistently accepts people off of the waitlist. All of the Ivys do! They seem to range from a minimum of 50

Ah… does anyone think it’s weird they haven’t updated us yet?
Has anyone heard anything at all from Stanford?

Did you guys ever get a confirmation of placing yourself on the waitlist? I never got an email confirming after I signed up for the waitlist.

that means you didn’t sign up…

I didn’t get a confirmation mail either :/

guys it prolly in your spam, because mine waas

i honestly believe the delay on stanfords part is a good sign
meaning that they are deciding who to admit from the waitlist
its a process which take some time
also the fact that they havent released their yield, whilst all major ivies have is very suspicious
furthermore given the massive increase in the yield of yale, moderate increase in the yield of princeton, harvard, i honestlly would not expect stanfords yield to grow significantly enough for them to not use their waitlist. the thing is harvard, princeton, yale and stanford all compete for the same group of students. if yields in HYP have increased, this should correspond to either a decrease in the yield of stanford (unlikley) or a small increase in the yield of stanford (likely) because in the end the decrease and increase yield at HYPS must balance each other. just sharing my two cents and im not sure if i have been clear though :p

I was going to make a comment…but, I will let you guys continue to “dream”…that’s right…“dream”…

It’s in spam, thank god!

@gravitas2 why so pessimistic?
Are u even on the waitlist

I’ve realized that getting a waitlist from stanford in itself is harder than an acceptance from 99% of all colleges. Be proud guys!

does anyone know the stats of the previous release dates? say in the last 5 years?
has it ever been this late?

@bluesky29 check the first page of the thread

*** meaning the literal day in may the waitlist was informed over the past few years - is it precedented to find out so late?

@bluesky29‌ they usually infrom everyone by the 14th of may

Mysterious eh?

I wrongly thought the agonising waiting game will end in april. But you know, tbh I was missing the uncertainty, the tension and the checking CC every 10 seconds.

So if not Stanford, where are all of you headed ? :)

Oxford in the uk
How about you @burtmacklin‌

wow now you want to rule England as well ? Isn’t being the POTUS good enough for you Mr Underwood ?
I will be going to Columbia
