I am a sophmore in high school. I hope to make a difference and raise awareness in my school by starting clubs such as Red Cross Club and Model UN, but I don't know how to go about doing something like that.

Find a teacher advisor/supervisor that would be willing to oversee your club. Also, find some people that would be interested in joining the club. You should probably come up with a proposal for what this club would do (activities, meetings, etc.) and give that to the teacher.

What is model UN?

Also, what are some nationally known clubs that I could start at my school?

At my school you go to the office and pick up a form. You fill out all the questions like who your advisor will be, what is the clubs name, what it will do, etc. Get the paper signed by taht teacher and then turn it into the office to get approval.

For promotional things: We have a club rush day at our school, so if you have something similar I would suggest setting up a table for your club. If not, put up posters around the school and make announcments about upcoming meetings.

Model UN is Model United Nations.

For my school, you have to speak directly with the student activities advisor and everything else depends on what she says. It's a painful process.

I'm starting the first JSA Chapter in Canada! this sept. at my school. Can that contribute to my 'passion' in politics?

is the Model UN a service club? and what does Red Cross club do exactly?

Jimmy, calm down.

blythe, Model UN is where you represent countries and discuss topics in committees that mirror those in the United Nations. It's like public policy, international affairs, and public speaking. There are regional 4-day conferences held at hotels and run by college students around the country.

Red Cross activities depend on the school. My school's club volunteers at a nursing home. I don't know what else. A soup kitchen probably? The club basically introduces volunteering opportunities to students who have the OPTION of pursuing them.

oh wow interesting...it would be cool to be in Model UN...thanks for the info
