Stern Question- Dress code + Networking?

Alright, I've been accepted and will attend Stern this upcoming fall! The only thing I've seen about Stern, though, is that you'll get dirty looks if you're not wearing a suit! Does that mean that I have to wear a suit everyday for class? What the.. haha. I don't know if the posts meant it for graduate students, or juniors/seniors. Truth to be told, I find it hard to believe that freshmen go in a suit every day to class; if so, that would be a very expensive wardrobe they have! Could anyone enlighten me on this?

Also, I am very naive when it comes to networking. Could anyone help me out on this one as well? Does it mean that you just make friends in your grade, or that you get to talk to recruiters, or send emails to alumni? I realized that if I was coming to Stern, I had to get the most advantage out of it. Also, is it possible to get an internship (doesn't have to be paid, as long as I gain experience) your freshman year?

Please enlighten me in these two areas! Thank you~

No, you definitely do not have to wear a suit. However, some upperclassmen end up wearing suits to class because they go right from class to their internships or vice versa. Most of my Sternie friends are the most casual dressers ever, and no one really cares (and frankly the rest of the school makes fun of the suit-wearing Stern folks). I know nothing about networking, so I can’t really help you there, however buddy up to professors, because they are always great resources

Thanks! That actually brought a lot of relief, ha! Anyone else could answer about the internships/networking? I would greatly appreciate it!
