Stonybrook Questions (Technology,etc.)

Hello, I believe I will be going to Stony Brook next year for Fall 09.

I don’t consider myself a nerd, I go to the gym basically every day, am out most of the time, w/e. But I am a great fan of my desktop computer and video games.

I was wondering the following:

Would it be possible for me to bring my Xbox360 and use my Xbox Live subscription?

Does anyone play Xbox 360, specifically sports games, on campus?

Does anyone play computer games on campus, specifically Counter-Strike 1.6, Source, or Warcraft the Frozen Throne (DotA), etc. or WoW -_-?

Is anyone a /b/tard that goes to Stony Brook (You will understand this if you in fact are one). (4chan)

How good is the internet there? Can I download torrents, etc.

If you can answer any of these questions great, I appreciate your help.

I live in Manhattan :-D

Hello.

I am a professor at Stony Brook, and I hope you enjoy your stay at our campus.

Firstly, yes, it is possible to bring a console, and yes, you may use it online.
Secondly, I am aware of a few juniors in my lectures that play Xbox 360, so I assume they play some sports game of such.
Thirdly, yes, I am a vivid WoW player.
Fourthly, I am sure there are over 9000 people in the college that do not know of /b/.

And lastly, no, it is against college campus rules. You may not download any illegal material.

Have a nice day.

Yes, most people have Xbox360s, wiis, and Ps3s.

Yes, my current roommates live by Fifa.

I play Dota, so does a lot of people, and tons of people play WoW.

Probably, there is an anime/geek club, that's what they call it, I don't judge.

Internet is good during the day, sometimes craps out at night, when all 3 roommates were using the same router. WE switched that and it was fine. Last night was bad, but it could have been problems. Torrents and limewire do not work. We use a filesharing program called "DC++." The school really doesn't like it much, but it's used. You need to upload your own stuff to use other people's stuff.

Professor Oak I'm guessing you're a Comp Sci professor?

They're trolls. It wouldn't be wise to feed them.

For those who don't get the reference, the two usernames were undoubtedly created by the same person.

x2 what Keleso said.

I wish I lived in Manhattan. You must be pretty well off.

My friend intends to bring his Wii and 360 for fall 09

Lol, I can see that. . . why on earth would someone waste their time by doing that?
