Stores in Ithaca

lol, it could be for some i guess. but im from buffalo and my very same trusty coat and gloves from freshman year of HS have been my best friends for many years.

Ha. I'm from Buffalo as well. But when I moved to Ithaca I upgraded from a ski jacket to a Salvation Army overcoat and a nice scarf. The coat was amazing. It was made in Yugoslavia and was unbelievably warm and fit all sorts of occasions.

I know that you all said there's a borders, but is there a barnes and noble around? I'm a much larger fan of B&N, plus i have a membership there....

Yes...there is a Barnes and Noble on South Meadow in the same plaza where Tops is located.

sweet deal...

There's also a inice Wegmans (supermarket) in the area.

and there's a bus that goes right there on the weekend! route 15.

Those people who live near places like Tyson's Corner, Virginia, or Paramus, New Jersey, think that the mall in Ithaca is a joke.

Those who don't live in places with huge malls full of huge stores may find it quite acceptable.

It's all a matter of comparison.

Coming from New Jersey, the mall capital of the world, Ithaca's malls are small. That being said, I can't imagine you needing something that you can't find there. One other fact, you can't shop at the malls in Paramus on Sundays!

coming from DC, the ithaca malls are blahhh. but coming to cornell, i never realized how useful target really is. if i really want something and the store isnt here, i go online. screamindv, you should come down here. tysons is open everyday of the week!!! be jealous! lol

Ithaca is a real great place from living there for 11 years. OK, I will admit it is sort of in the middle of no where, but the people, festivals, and scenic landscape is amazing! They have a good selection of international foods (asian) in college town if anyone was interested..
Oh. And its a hippie town. :)

ok that was really off topic. My bad.
Well I love wegmans. They have awesome a la carte and subs, and Tops is a good grocery store as well. College Town Bagels is a great bakery. There is starbucks too, and local coffee shops.
There is a organic store called green star near the lake if that interests anyone.

yea scream. unlike the big mall towns, you won't ever find yourself planning a 'day trip' that includes the pyramid mall lol. when i was at northwestern the chicago malls were worthy of an entire saturday afternoon journey just to have a good time and see/experience everything.

from that perspective, the mall really does blow i suppose. but from a functionality standpoint: everything is indeed there that you could possibly need or desire- and you can be in and out in an hour or two. for those purposes, the mall is the bomb.

What about an apple store?

no apple store here. those are very few and far between anyways. if im not mistaken syracuse and victor, ny are the closest.

the one in Syracuse is at Carousel so I guess that is one reason to travel.

but you can get a lot of apple products at the cornell store or best buy...

It is telling that when I read that I immediately thought about stores that specifically sell the fruit : P

Tchaikovsky, I thought the same thing and found it interesting that someone would care about an apple store so much to ask if there was one near Cornell, hahaha.

if it makes you feel any better, students go apple picking in the orchards during the fall months (around octoberish...same time when apple cider is available on campus :]P )
