Studying Abroad/IGETC/Transfer

Hello! So this is my first time using this site so I am not sure if I am doing this correctly.

But anyways, I just wanted advice on my current situation and I am not really good at explaining myself so I am just going to spit everything out. So as of now I am about to finish my second semester at community college. I recently decided that I am going to major in Kinesiology and am mostly leaning towards trying to transfer to USF because of their kinesiology program. I am doing IGETC right now and if I take a class in the Summer and also get into all of my classes in the Fall I will have completed IGETC. I also might decide to study abroad during the Spring of next year before transferring. Where I am stuck at now is that I want to drop my summer class because it conflicts with my work schedule but there are no more classes I can add during my fall. So should I stick with it or can I drop it? Can IGETC still be useful for transfer if I miss one class? This might be a strange question but, is it possible to finish IGETC abroad? Also if I do not take it I will still have completed 49 units at community college, including my fall classes this year, but I am not sure how many units USF requires for transfer students.

Sorry for this very unorganized paragraph but I am just really confused right now and any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Sorry no one has answered you. I think your questions is a bit confusing. It is important to be certified IGETC, which means all classes required. Yes, you can be “almost” IGETC or whatever, but it is better to be fully IGETC. The only way to finish IGETC abroad would be if your community college accepts the transfer credits from the study abroad institution. So I think you need to go meet with a college advisor at your community college and get all of this straight. When it comes time to transfer, decisions you made a year before can come back to haunt you. Hope that helps.

Thanks so much for the reply!
