Subject Tests on SAT after class in subject?

Would it look bad to a college if a transfer applicant took SAT subject tests in an area which they took a course in previously? The reason I ask is that I have taken a course in each area that SAT offers subject tests in but the colleges I want to apply to strongly recommend subject tests, what should I do?

Does your school specifically say that for transfer applicants? Or for general applicants? My feeling would be that taking an SAT2 in something in which you’ve already received a passing grade seems a tad superfluous. The best people to ask may very well be the adcoms at your transfer school.

Subject tests are for HS students, they are irrelevant once you’re taking college courses. You’re taking a college course and getting a grade, that supersedes any Subject test. It would be a waste of time, energy and money.

Thanks, I did not know that about how they are for highschool students only. Thats really helpful and makes me feel a lot better.

The CB will be more than willing to take your money and give you the test, it’s just that it will mean nothing beside whatever grade you get in your class. Subject tests are not as rigorous as AP tests and many schools don’t take AP credit because they don’t consider them consistently comparable to a college class.
