myap2013 ok thanks :)

Got mail from Collegeboard today about my re-score. They said that it was not possible for them to āprocess my requestā of receiving my FRQ book since my essay topic was not released onto the Collegeboard website because there were two different essay topics this year. -_-

Hey guys! Just wanted to ask how long did it take for them to cash in the check? Because i sent mine in a week ago and they still havent cashed it yet

We mailed a letter 7/5 that they received 7/8 according to USPS tracking. The charge appeared on credit card account 7/19, which was the same day we sent a follow-up e-mail with copy of original letter asking whether they ever received the original letter. They said they donāt accept credit card orders by e-mail, so it must have been the letter that spurred the charge. They take their time. They said no rescore or anything else could take place before all original scoring is finished in July.

Wow 2 weeks? They really do take their timeā¦i guess iāll wait a bit longer then. Thanks for the info!

So after making around four more calls to CollegeBoard, I was informed that they recently changed their rescoring policy for AP Japanese and Chinese; they now rescore these tests.

I faxed my request July 8th, and they emailed me the receipt confirmation on July 31st. Strangely they told me that Iād get the results six to eight weeks after the confirmation, but I got the letter back today, merely 12 days after the confirmation.

āIt has been determined that your original PA Exam score, as previously reported, is accurate.ā So my score remains the same. The letter did not break down my scores; it only explained how they rescored it.

I would advise to not have such high hopes on the rescore. As someone who was positive she got a 5 on the AP Japanese test, I am quite disappointed that my 3 remains a 3.

Success story for 2013 just in today, though not completely understood yet. Will update if we get more info.

Background: D took her first 4 APs last year in 11th through online HS she was enrolled in, so basically self-study. Got 5s in the the skills-based courses- calcAB and Eng lit, 4s in the memorization classes- Euro hist and art hist. She didnāt spend enough time reading and learning the enormous amounts of info in those classes, so it seemed about right. This year she was back in brickandmortar school for senior year. She didnāt take music theory or env. sci. tests as not helpful for her college, got 5 in calcBC and a 2 in APUSH!!! Flabbergasted. She felt that the daily work she did in that class so prepared her. She was absolutely sure of a 5. We requested the FR booklet and MC rescore 7/5. They charged credit card 7/19. 8/1 got FR booklet in mail but nothing about it remarkable to notice. Then today she got an e-mail that her AP scores are online. Checked and the 2 had changed to a 4. Thatās all so far. I assume there will be some letter or something eventually. Guessing that they lost MC and gave her the equivalent of essay score. But if so, kind of unfair as she excels in the MS questions and probably almost aced that part, while her essays are OK, but not great. Luckily the 4 is good enough, barely, for the college she is at. Thatās 6 more credit hours. Good thing it didnāt happen with the calc. She starts MV calc tomorrow and couldnāt have enrolled in it if she had a 2.Couldnāt have added at last minute either as the honors section is full.

Thatās interesting since I was sure that I got a 5 on bio but then ended up with a 2.

I actually havenāt rescored yet - I eventually decided it wasnāt worth the money. Youāre post is making me rethink my decisionā¦ :1

So this is ridiculous, though I suppose not unexpected from College Board.

Hereās the letter from ETS:

āWe are writing to provide you with more information about your AP US History Exam score. Initially, we reported a score of 2. However, a careful review of the processing of your exam materials identified additional points that you earned, and consequently we have updated your score. Your official AP US History Exam score is a 4.ā

And then some stuff about them sending score to colleges and high school and contacting them if we have questions.

Also, āWe regret any inconvenience this update may cause youā¦ā

I mean, itās almost comical. They clearly havenāt gotten the word about our society becoming more open and sharing more info all the time, as they play it closer and closer to the vest as years go by.

For this they had UPS hand-deliver the letter in an Express envelopeā¦ rolls eyesā¦ Maybe that justifies some part of the $32???

So we wonāt know what happened unless we call, and maybe not even then.

Hmmmmm I have a question:

Some people are ordering the booklet to make sure CB didnāt lose it, but on their site for the multiple choice rescore it says,

"ā¦that multiple-choice score and your free-response score are then appropriately weighted and combined"

So if they rescore your multiple choice and then add it with your frqs later, wouldnāt they notice that the frq score is missing in the first place?

Btw, congrats celesteroberts. I hope Iām as fortunate.

Curiouser and curiouser. Now on our credit card website it shows the $25 for MC rescore refunded 3 days ago, but not the other $7. I suppose I have to force myself to call them. Probably they did lose the MC like I guessed and so couldnāt do the rescore.

Has anyone ever gotten a 4 re-scored to a 5?

Despite the title of this thread, Iām curious to see whether anybody didnāt get there score changed

Hi! Any new AP rescore success stories? I know I sent my ap rescore a bit late. But it has been a week now and I still havenāt received a verification yet? Help?

Just got my scores back from my first two AP tests and am disappointed. I got a 3 in Chemistry and a 4 in Bio, but I was way more confidant about the chem test than the bio (I didnāt even take AP Bio, I took Honors Bio and Anatomy and Physiology and figured, why not?) I was sure I had a 5 in chem, and even more sure that I did better in chem than in bio. Iād have to pay for a rescore myself, so Iām a little hesitant, but I really feel like I deserved a 5 (or at least a 4), any advice?
@rugitusastra I got a 3 on chem last year as well, and felt like I got a 5. However, the next year, at my highly recognized STEM school, almost everyone got 3s or below, and we knew that we just got beat, insteading of there being scoring mistakes. You can try, but especially with the distribution, thereās a lower chance of improving your score.
Okay, I think Iāll hold off then. I have a friend that took it at the same time and we studied together a ton and were pretty even in ability, if she got a 5 then maybe Iāll get a rescore, otherwise I wonāt waste my money. Just out of curiosity, do you remember what you got on practice tests (if you took any)?
@rugitusastra That was the other thing. I was sophomore, so I didnāt think studying was necessary at the time, and suffered for it. Even with practice tests though, they donāt necessarily reflect the exam, nor do they mean that you could have done everything in the correct form for the FRQs. And, you mightāve been just 1 point away from a 4, so provided they did everything right, it may have just been one question you didnāt know that changed the big number.
Got my AP scores today. A 5 in APUSH and 4 in Pysch, but a 2 in APLAC! I was surprised. Iād thought I had at least scored a 3. Iāve gotten 6/7 consistently throughout the year, and am alright at the MC section. I was very confident that my essays were at LEAST 6s. I probably didnāt do great on the MC - I ran out of time for the last 6 questions. But would this warrant a 2? I think Iāll be getting it rescored, at least for the piece of mind.
Is ordering the FRQ the only way to ensure they havenāt lost my essays? Or will the rescore make sure of that?
@jpchem Sophomore year has become the bane of my existence (and my transcript.) True, and very true.
