So I checked out my FRQ “scores” according to the scoring guidelines and my essays were literally meant for this guideline everything was checked off on the list! On the APWH exam I got a 2, and in the AP grade calculator if I put a 0 for the MC, 5,6,6 for my essays the score is 2, so I’m hoping my MC is rectified by hand and I made some stupid mistake on the info of my MC packet. At 11:30 pm my heart had the urge to check the mail (because I hadn’t checked it during the day) so I went and checked and thats where I saw my FRQs…I’m hoping this incident is trying to tell me that my AP score might be something else after all. By the way I feel like I did an OKAY job on the MC.
UPDATE ON MY STORY: This was unsuccessful, I got a 2 on my APWH exam yesterday I got my FRQs back and today I got a letter stating that my score was accurate. I remember during the MC I bubbled in two bubbles in one question however I think I fixed it as I was in a hurry. But, what I got out of this is that an AP Exam doesn’t define who you are or how smart are you, this should help you strive for more success. This score has negatively got to me, but I’m trying my best to get it together and focus on my new year, this year and my new AP classes.
@michelle426 I was expecting a 5, but was willing to accept a 4. If I set AP Pass with my FRQ scores and set the MC to zero, I get a 1 that’s right on the edge of a 2. If I set the MC equal to the FRQ I get a high-range 4. So it doesn’t line up with one section being missing (unless it was the FRQ they didn’t count.) I don’t remember a story where a rescore success wasn’t a result of a lost section. I don’t even know at this point, I’m just confused.
Did you send your rescore by mail or fax? I called them to see if they recieved it and they said, " we cannot do that. You have to wait 6-8 weeks to get it."
So my score was determined to be accurate : / Oh well.
UNSUCCESSFUL
I hope this is still active…Anyways I just received my AP scores today and for AP world history I received a 3 with complete shock and utter dismay. I received A’s throughout the year in a very difficult course and got a 7 or above on every essay. Most people had B’s in the course. I love history and am a humanities person, not a science person, On practice exams and the school wide mock AP exams, I easily scored 5’s without prior studying. After the AP exam I was confident I at least averaged 5’s on my essays (bare minimum) and I thought I knocked my dbq out of the park. When I saw my 3 I was absolutely in horror. Should I send in for a rescore? Or just blame my overconfidence in one subject that I actually enjoyed for overestimating my abilities.
@dogluvaaa I just also received my AP Scores and I’m in a similar boat as you… History isnt my best subject but by no means am I bad at it (100 in course all year with tests having AP Questions and receiving a 98% on the state final) and I also got a 3 Im contemplating having my scores rescored because on our “midterm” we took a full length AP World exam and I didn’t do 2 of the essays and didn’t answer about 15 of the MC simply because we hadn’t learned them yet and I received a 3 on that… I at least would have thought I got a 5
a 4 sorry*
Wow, I am in the same boat as you guys too, @mitwannabe29 and @dogluvaaa. I got a 3 and was expecting a 4. I know I definitely got an 8-9 on the DBQ, and I know I at least pulled a 5/6 on the other two essays. I thought the MC was fairly easy as well.
I’m requesting my Essay booklet and a rescore and I’ll let you know how it goes
@mitwannabe29 @aznboi4981 hoping that my actual score isn’t actually a 3 and that collegeboard made an error. I looked at the appass website and saw that even if you got a 0 on the frq and around 80% on the mc, you could get a 3. And I’m pretty sure I did not get a 0 on the frqs lol. I’m going to send mine in for rescore and pray for the best for all of us
If anyone is willing to give me input on this, I would be grateful.
I just checked my AP scores from this year, and none of my scores surprised me except one. I got a 2 on the AP World History exam, which I was expecting a 5 on. If not a 5, definitely a 4. I was so shocked. Throughout the year, World was the easiest class for me, and my teacher consistently told me that I had the highest grade in the class. I seriously can’t believe that I got a 2 on an exam that I felt prepared for.
What are your thoughts? Do you think it would be a good idea to request a rescore? Thanks!
Wow I just realized that you guys are in the same situation as me lol. And what a coincidence we’re all talking about the same exam.
@AnimeMango I would request a rescore or request for your essay booklet and have your teacher or someone with fairly good knowledge on how ap’s are graded, grade your essays. After you get your score from your teacher then go to appass and plug in what they have you for the essays and see what the minimum and maximum MC you needed to get the score you did and see if it makes sense, if not request a rescore. Hope this helped
Wow! Wonder what happened to the world readers this year! surprised a lot of us are on the same boat
Yes great advice! I’ll see if I can do this. Because based on what everyone else has been saying, I feel like you need to do quite poorly to get a 2, and I honestly don’t feel I did that bad…
My world teacher was a reader this year for the DBQ, and she said that the teachers she collaborated with said the essays were not as good as previous years.
When did your daughter get her rescored AP test scores back?
I have read on previous posts in this thread that during a rescore, only the MCs are rechecked, not the FRQs. Those of you posting this year may want to consider that, if that is still the case.
