I'm wondering if anybody knows any High School student who has been successful with the use of Marijuana or any drugs.
I'm not asking if they RELIED on it.
Also, I'm new to the forum and I don't know the rules, so I apologize if this breaks one of the rules.

I know somebody who got a full scholarship to NYU, some scholarship to Emory, and accepted to UCLA and he was a stoner.
I'm not saying I do drugs or anything, but I'm wondering if anybody knows somebody who has used drugs, gotten a high SAT score, good grades, and got accepted into a decent/good college.

I’m sure there are…

There are a lot of stoners here at Emory. And they do really well (though some of course do not).

Some stoners are pretty intelligent people.

Yeah, absolutely. The smartest kid I know (not val, but 4.0–our weighting system is ridiculous) smokes pot socially, though he’s far from a stoner. I do know intelligent stoners, but they tend to do okay rather than phenomenal in school.

The curve setter in my AP Chem class takes the tests stoned.

I’m surprised you even asked…of course there are! (and they may be lurking on this forum too)

Clinton… I’d say he was pretty successful (OK, admit it, everyone knows he’s a pothead).

I know quite a few people at UMich who smoked all through high school.

I have a friend at UC Berkeley who is a through and through stoner.

It happens :).

Some of the most intelligent people i know smoke pot regularly. When i say “intelligent” i do not mean 4.0 intelligence, because they usually have <2.0, but “life intelligence” rather. Some of the 4.0 students at my school can’t even formulate a proper sentence.

All the druggies I’ve met have been profound idiots.

woah! i was just talking about this with my friends the other day! all the druggies i know are crazy geniuses.

^^^^But he ‘never inhaled’ so how could he be a pothead? :)

Most stoners are idiots at my school. However there are around 5 that are extremely extremely intelligent, but also do all kinds of drugs (one who got caught for his E addiction had to go to juvy and goes to weekly anon sessions). Unfortunately, they do poorly in school (C avg or less). If they tried, they’d own. The highest SAT at my school (2390) was achieved by the craziest stoner ever; C-avg student who had straight As until **** went down in his family during soph. year.

3 of the top four students in my class smoke pot regularly and have been doing so for a few years

A lot of the academically successful people at my high school smoke pot.

Also, Steve Jobs, talking about LSD said that it was “one of the two or three most important things [he had] done in [his] life.”

haha, its actually kind of sad really. half of the kids (maybe more than half) in the IB program at my school do some sort of drugs (I don’t though) and yet they’re still some of the “best and brightest of the school”. That info would really mess up health class’s message that “drugs make you stupid” :p

Drugs only make you stupid in the sense that many people can’t handle them responsibly. My dad is convinced that people generally fall into one of 2 categories- those who do too many drugs and those who don’t do enough. Lmao.

there are tons of stoners at every top college in the country so they were probably sucessful in high school right ?

you would be shocked to see how many stoners are at my school who are really smart.

I never really kept track because I never saw marijuana as an impediment to getting high grades.

My friend who’s decent at school smokes sometimes. The singular guy in my AP Chem class is an amazing pianist, with Top 20 grades/PSAT scores (he’s a junior) and gets high once in a while. I know that two of our vals like to party and definitely get drunk, so I figure they get high too. One of them is a Presidential Scholar Nominee (top 20 male and female scorers in the state), so he had to have at least like a 2390, if not a 2400. The guy who’s ranked under the sal, and who really should have been the sal, since the sal should have been one of the vals, except that she decided to take an unweighted class, he parties and slacks, so he gets high.

Basically, a lot of people who do well also like to get high/drunk/generally effed up.

Think about how much smarter those “curve setters” would be if they didn’t kill brain cells on a regular basis…
