Summer 2011

So, I'm on my summer break, between my sophomore and junior years. I have amazing opportunities this summer and I need some advice. My DREAM school would be Stanford University and I believe that I am on the right path. I was wondering which summer program would make me be more appealing to the admissions board:
A) Going to New Zealand and volunteering to help penguins for two weeks(25 hours community service)
B) Going to Harvard to go to a leadership conference for two weeks (No community service)
C) Staying home and helping out at the nearby hospital ( I volunteer at the hospital anyways, but I could sped a lot more time there)
D) Helping rebuild a habitat in Northern California for two weeks
Oh, and my projected major is Biology or Pre-med. Thanks! :)

(C) – full time if possible, and taking on possible volunteer leadership opportunities at the hospital

Study your butt off. Get a research internship with a professor in your field of interest.

Which option would you have the most fun doing?

Pick that one.

None of these is really better than the other for admissions. You should be doing what you want to do, not what you think admissions committees want you to have done.

fogcity: volunteering full time for high school students is restricted and leadership positions are only available to college students :frowning: But thanks anyway!

davidthefat: I already have an internship in place for next summer! (with a doctor who worked at Stanford) But thanks for the advice!

Redseven: To be honest, I would enjoy doing any of these things! I would never do anything that I wouldn’t enjoy! Thanks!
