If you take summer classes, make sure they’ll transfer to your college.

Will it save you $$. Likely not unless you can then graduate early, or re paying by credit and not semester at your intended college.

My son, at SUNY Buffalo, took 4 online classes last summer through Farmingdale and Eric CC as he had no room in his schedule for some required World Civ, History and English classes. Those are options for you too. He was able to work at his own pace and get down pretty quickly.

Even if it doesn’t save you money it might still be worth doing. Some people knock out classes they are required to take for breadth at a CC which has 2 benefits. First it lets you take fewer classes per semester and still graduate on time. Second, at many schools you get credit for the class but the GPA doesn’t transfer. While some say classes at a CC are easier, if you have this buffer then even if you get a B or C it doesn’t hit your official college GPA (although as a caveat some employers may ask for transcripts from every school at which you took classes, so don’t slack off on purpose!)
