Summer Courses...

Has anyone taken summer courses before? And have you taken a 6-week course before? If so, how tough is it to keep up with everything? I want to find out what I'm getting myself into by taking 2 classes in the same session. TIA.

you'll be fine.

I think its easier than a normal quarter because you only have two classes to worry about and you probably won't have as many other ECs and stuff.

what class are you planning on taking?

North Campus courses should be lighter considering that they do not have discussions during the summer .

HIST131A Marxist Theory
HIST 140A US 20th Century 1900 - 1928

Anyone care to join in on the fun?

sigh,
i have already signed up for math 33a, phys 4al, phys 4bl.

kill me plz.

eww...:(

..good luck though...

No thanks...no history for me..lol. I'm minoring in Geography so any Allied Fields I do is gonna be Geography. I'm considering PS 117, PS 118, PS 121A, and PS 122A..if I decide to stay in Westwood over the summer.

So if North Campus classes don't have discussions in the summer, how much lighter are they compared to the ones in the regular year?

How much work is there in a North campus discussion? I still haven't had one yet. Specifically, I'm talking about Sociology 1.

the discussions really add a lot of extra work and time...

i did a 6 week class, north campus, had a discussion. only went to discussion 3 times, TA didn't care. got a high A. was easy to keep up with but the material was literally rote memorization. a lower div class will probably be more involved.

allie,

Was your participation in discussion counted in your grade?

not really. ive never actually had a discussion where attendance/participation was an actual part of the grade. i realize that's unique, though.

for the summer class, the ta was ridiculously laid back. we all had to, at some point, do a 5 minute presentation and provide handouts (which basically formed the framework of the tests). as long as you did your presentation when you signed up for it, he didn't really care whether you showed up or not.

Eh, it's probably just the professor I'm taking that makes up participate in discussion. I don't always have something to say on a specific topic, dang it!

does anyone know how difficult engish 4W is over the summer? i'm planning to take it

..anyone???

can someone show how I can take chem 14C and CL at UCI?

www.assist.org

Is the registrar website working for anyone?

nope it's not working right now.

assist.org...if UCLA does have an agreement with the college I am looking to take my summer classes at...what does that mean?

will the both the grade and credits transfer?

sucks how chem 14C only has one lecture. this ruins my whole plan.
