Hey everyone, I just wanted to let you all know that I emailed a woman in the admissions office today who has been answering all of my questions through the application process and we have built somewhat of a repore so I trust what she says! She said this:
“In the past decisions have always gone out between mid-April to mid-May, but they could be as late as mid-June this year. I have not seen any Moody decisions going out yet & I don’t know when they’ll be made for sure. Not many decisions (overall) have gone out.”
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I am stressing! hopefully we will hear sooner than later…
@Nayplaya14 Nooooooooo. Honestly, if this is true, I may personally have to just forget about it. I will need to do summer classes here and decided whether to keep my current job or not by then. It might not be feasible. I don’t understand why they make us wait like this.
That’s some grade-A bullshit. Why is it taking longer than normal? It really sucks because I need to be able to plan out moving like 1700 miles away if I get in. Ugh.
Just called and was told June as well. This is absolutely ridiculous. A university should not be able to hold us hostage like this. We need to know what our lives are going to look like a few months down the road and not be left in limbo.
I called as well today and asked why. Apparently they received almost double the amount of transfer applications and too many people are extremely competitive. I also got a June date.

I was wondering what my chances are guys? Also what would you say is the minimum GPA needed for CNS and Mathematics?
Are they saying June for people who already have 30 hours? I saw a lot of mid-June decisions in the Fall 2014 thread for people who had to complete the Spring semester to have 30 hours. If now they say that those who already are complete with 30 hours have to wait until June, then I wonder what the wait will be for people still completing the 30 hour requirement.
It really depends on the major/college and space limitations. For one of the more competitive majors, they take X amount of students per year period. May 1 is when they know how many freshman are coming. Around May 21 they can admit internal transfers from UT based on their Spring grades. Then the space left over goes to the top X amount of external transfers. So the most outstanding will be admitted early if possible, but for most majors it just comes down to space. If 500 fairly strong people apply for 25 spots, it’s gonna be a rough time making those decisions.
Yes for people who already have 30 hours because I am one of those people. She told me a long time ago that we get priority over those who don’t have their hours completed though… Hopefully that’s still true!
Hey blackjustblack everyone has a chance trust me, it’s just really important to be a good fit for your chosen major. Showing passion and success in your field puts you at the top, so essays can be just as critical as GPAs. I agree externals get the short end of the stick on the timeline, but anyone can be competitive enough to make it. And only some extremely popular majors are really that limited on space, some have high transfer success rates.
@Mohyeen On the FAFSA I applied to live on campus but I haven’t actually decided. I want to wait to hear back from financial aid (thing says check in 2 weeks) before I make an official decision. Is there a thread for transfer students to find roommates? That would be cool.
Oh so we get 8 weeks notice on whether or not we’re moving to Austin? Thats a bit fucked, I hope everyone is able to make living arrangements if they get in.
Btw if anyone in Cockrell decides they want to change majors they make you wait an entire year and then you have to reapply to the College.
This school give me an anti-student vibe. I hope theyre not this sketchy with other important things like housing and financial stuff
@stevenjp Good luck trying to find housing on campus or near campus! I wouldn’t be surprised if on campus was gone by now since the freshman class have been finally accepted. Off-campus near UT is just about gone, unless you’re willing to share a private apartment with a stranger. UT knows that it’s a hot commodity so it doesn’t “need” to be nice to its students, present or future.
