@MyLonghorn @MyUTAustin Maybe I’ll apply next Fall 2016 and try to boost to 3.977ish, I believe my essay is about 8/10. For LoR, do you know are there limits for number of LoR? I mean what is max? Thank ou
Starting to seriously loose my hope for McCombs…
@ecollin I already lost all hope for McCombs. I’m just counting on getting into Liberal Arts Economics. I figure I can just internal transfer to McCombs.
Me too, @ecollin & @Toastyful. My NSC at Texas A&M is in two weeks, and I’m pretty sure I won’t hear from UT anytime soon. I never thought I’d say this, but it sucks to be a UT applicant right now. Lol.
You should go to it just in case @berry3 , I was accepted to Mays Business School back in March but I still haven’t signed up for the NSC (I have until July 1st). I have not been visiting College Station yet, but from what I heard I just cannot see myself living there. I am 24 and married. My husband would probably stay in Dallas and I would do some kind of “commute” on the weekends. I am not a party person and I am 110 % dedicated to school. A&M is a great school, just think I am a little too boring to fit into the college life there lol. I was accepted to SMU as well, but unless they throw a huge scholarship my way (the financial packages do not go out until June), there is no chance I can afford it.
@berry3 would you mind me asking what your financial aid package at A&M looked like? Mine was really crappy… Barely covers tuition and books (and that’s including loans…)
Yes, I’m planning on going to the NSC. Ah, I can understand… I’m 28 myself and like you, I’m no partier and very dedicated to school. I visited Aggieland for the first time last weekend, and found a place that I could imagine calling home for the next two years (or three if I get into the PPA program!). A grad student and a senior are already living there, and the place’s in Bryan - away from the craziness of A&M parties and all that. At this age, I don’t really care about fitting into the college life lol. I just want to get a degree from a great business school. Hope you’ll end up at the school you really want to go to in the fall
You probably don’t know this but due to my deafness, my tuition costs are waived at any public university in Texas. There’s also a program known as DARS (Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services) that pays for books. DARS also covers on-campus housing, but since the dorms at A&M are full, I’ll have to pay for off-campus housing with the financial aid package I’m getting from A&M (which consists of a grant). I wish tuition and books could be free for everyone regardless of their hearing statuses! @ecollin
Man, so quiet this past week…not nearly enough new acceptances.
lol at the fact that next week will be mid May and so many of us haven’t found out…
Accepted two weeks ago into COLA! However, no word from FAFSA. Does anyone know if it’s smart to live off campus? Does distance matter? Recommendations?
- California State University
- Currently a senior
- 3.48 (3 years of college) (Rough first year / Last two years steady GPA of 3.8 - 3.9)
- No recommendation letters
- volunteered a lot
- cross country/ROTC/sailing team/school leadership
- 94 hours total by the end of this semester. -Great essays (I'm confident they were my best work)
- two campus jobs/one off campus job
- major at CSUM: Political Science and International Relations
- transferring into IRG as a junior
Live off campus. Room with someone but have your own room. Don’t stay in an apartment. Commute time doesn’t matter if it’s under 25 minutes. Bring a car. Don’t stay in a co-op.
Whats wrong with the apartments?
The week is almost over, it’s getting slower with almost no news from most of the schools.
I just called them yesterday for moddy decisions and they told me that we ll may hear decisions august…
9 days left to submit the spring grades for me…
Are you kidding about August decisions??
Hey y’all. Just wanted to give some advice/commentary, seeing as how a lot of you guys are anxious with decisions and such.
I am currently a student here, accepted for the Spring 2015 semester. I applied back on August 22nd, while the deadline for Spring was October 1st. I was accepted into COLA on December 3rd, a week before my final exams at my previous college. Orientation was January 12th (I believe) for Spring students, although I did hear that there were some students who got accepted the day before orientation, and mainly in the more competitive colleges like Cockrell or even some CNS majors.
I’m not saying this to add on to the fear - because I know exactly how it feels to be in that situation. But honestly, I truly believe that the longer you’re in the applicant pool, the better chance you have at getting accepted. This says more about you as an applicant, and how well you’re in competition with other applicants, which makes it that much harder for the admissions committee to deny you.
As for those worried about their GPA falling during the semester they applied for - don’t worry. At the time I applied, my GPA was a 3.87. By the time I submitted my final grades, my GPA dropped to a 3.76. I heard that drops as far as .2 grade points from your original GPA isn’t necessarily the end of the world. But just make sure to stay on top of your grades in the mean time. They definitely want applicants to remain within the same academic qualifications they put forth when applying.
Anyways, good luck to the rest of y’all! I know the waiting is probably killing you guys, but TRUST ME. It’ll all be worth it!
thanks @rogerybarra your comments are super appreciated! It really does help to hear from someone who’s already been through this nightmare lol
@rogerybarra , Thank you so much for the consoling words. It’s very difficult with the last day for summer class enrollment just near by and housing contract already signed and deposits paid, but I think I’m definitely waiting however long it takes.for UT. It’ll be worth it’s wait. I haven’t been asked to send in my spring grades, but do you think it’ll help if I send them anyway. I’ll get them on 5/14.
My heart dropped when I read that Moody decisions might be out until August. I really really hope whoever you talked to was misinformed or something like that. I can’t bear the thought of having to wait all summer
