Summer Homework for 2013-2014 School Year

Just thought if start a post where we could discuss/rant about our summer assignments for the upcoming school year :)

Of my 5 APs, I only have summer work in two (that I know of)!

AP Calc AB: 3 longish worksheets of stuff we never learned in Precal.

AP Lit: read 4 books, write an essay, and do a Major Works Data Sheet.

So far I've done 2 calc worksheets, read the easiest lit book, and done half the MWDS. Yay procrastination :D

Have to do an essay on a book for ap global and a thematic essay on a Spanish book for ap spanish

I’ve finished my packets for AP Physics (about 12 pages) and AP Stats (about 10 pages) already. I did most of it the last week of school, finished both shortly after.

I have to read 3 books [Great Expectations, As You Like It, A Streetcar Named Desire] for AP Lit, and haven’t even started. I have to do 6 blog posts about them as well. Totally dreading this assignment/class, I hate reading novels.

I have 7 APs and I have 5 summer homework assignments.
In English 3 ap/lit we have to read a book (scarlet letter) and answer simple questions.
In Physics B ap, we have around 5 hours of homework of sample problems and reading out of a textbook.
In Comparative gov, we have to read a plethora of internet articles and write a 2-3 page essay of israel vs. us
In Art History, we have to read around 30 pages out of our textbook and answer simple questions
In French 4 ap, we have to do around 100+ pages of work book, 7 essays (memorize for speeches), 4 summaries and vocabulary on chapters, and a report on a french film (i hate my french teacher LOL)

Nothing official, but I should be preparing for my classes next year and working on essays.

I’m taking 5 or 6 APs next year, and I only have 1 summer reading assignment. It’s just to read The Kite Runner and write responses. Fun.

^ The Kite Runner is an amazing book. Just saying.

Don’t get me wrong. I loved it. It’s just a crapload of work. I need to catch up on The West Wing and Arrested Development.

Of the 2AP’s next year only got 1 assignment. Read 2 books and 2 essays(I chose invisible man and brighton rock)

3 books for summer reading.

Lit: Read 5 books, will discuss/quiz/test(?) during first weeks of school.

French: Write 3 emails (80+ words) about given topics, do 5 things(read, write, listen, etc) in french each week for entire summer, complete 9 pages of exercises, read a story/discuss during first week, and study 50 vocab words.

Pre-Calc: I’m taking the course over the summer, so I will be able to take Calc next year.

I’m not really bothered at all by French or Pre-Calc because I love French and can’t wait for Calc next year, but English will be terrible if the books are really boring.

I have to analyze 5 speeches and read 2 books for Lit. Then I have to do a 10-page packet for Calculus. I haven’t started either, yet.

My entire school has to read the Fault in Our Stars by John Greene.

I’m not taking AP lit next year because of choice so no summer reading  all I have to do is install this program for AP Comp Sci.

5 APs, two have summer homework - APCS, AP Chem
Not very long

There is a five hour homework policy for each class that was made this year so I don’t have a lot.

AP Calc: lots of precalc review problems
AP World: read animal farm and complete worksheet
AP Bio: review basic bio and chem in textbook
Western lit: read tale of two cities and write journal entries for every five chapters

I’m also working on taking precalc this summer

Wow I guess I’m lucky compared to some of you all!!! I’m taking French 5 honors but I plan on taking the AP Test, so no summer work because it’s basically self study. As for some of you reading Kite Runner: it’s not hard and I honestly even enjoyed it! The Scarlet Letter was awful but not long so it’s not too dreadful haha :)

AP US History II: 60 terms from our textbook, a DBQ on the settlement of the West, and write an outline/chart on the Gilded Age.

AP Biology: 30 short answers, 5 short essays, a paper on arctic wolves, and a photo powerpoint of various ecological terms.

Spanish IV: Short packet on Spanish III grammar and analyze some story.

AP English Lang and Comp: Read Chocolat and two books from the approved list, analyze a synthesis essay, and write a blog post for our research paper.

I have read two chapters of Chocolat and finished Spanish. At least I’m somewhat started…

@Foodlover that better be a joke or John Green is one lucky dude

The fault in our stars is an amazing book.
