Hi everyone:
My name is Daniel. I am going to SSP this summer, and I am of course attending the best, the original campus.... Ojai, CA. I actually got deferred admission last year so this year I had a choice of sites. I was torn between getting to visit JPL at Ojai and the VLA at Socorro - I've always really really really wanted to see the VLA, so basically I just asked my dad which to apply to and he said Ojai. Thus, I am attending Ojai. Some statistics, for the statistically and non-statisically minded:
A junior attending school in central New Jersey.
I really really really like astronomy and astrophysics, and I thrive on copious amounts of Star Trek (I hope I'm not the only Trekker going to Ojai? eh... probably). Other science fiction is good, too, such as the Twilight Zone.
I have a strong affinity for carbonated beverages.
I have an unusual sense of humor, meaning that about 90% of my jokes or humorous comments no one else gets, but the other 10% can get a room of people in an uproar.
I cannot think of anything else relevant, though I'm sure there must be something.

1)Color -- Anything. I'm pro-color.

2)Team/Player --- Baseball: 1970s Cinncinnati Reds, Jimmie Foxx.

3)Favorite Music -- I don't really listen to much music (gasp!). There is one exception: the music of Allan Sherman.

4)Movies -- In order, the top few I can think of are (likely no one's heard of most of these)
1. Marooned (great old 1960s hard science fiction movie)
2. The Bedford Incident (fantastic 1960s cold war movie with Sidney Poitier)
3. Shoot to Kill (1980s action film involving a great scene with a moose, also with Sidney Poitier)
4. Star Trek: First Contact
5. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (ancient Western film with Jimmy Stewart and John Wayne)
I like most stuff made before about 1970. I've seen a number of movies asymptotically approaching infinitiy so it's difficult to rate them all.

5)Favorite Composers--- Eh. I guess Beethoven, but as written above, I'm not much of a music person. I do like modern composers of "thematic" music, like John Williams.

6) Favorite ice cream flavor--- I actually don't like ice cream or anything sweet. Probably what keeps me from getting fat considering the amount of french fries I eat. My metabolism is also ultra-fast... but I digress.

7) Favorite Book --- Non-fiction: The Case for Mars, by Robert Zubrin
Mostly I read non-fiction. I just finished reading an interesting book called After Contact about the psychological ramifications of discovering intelligent alien civilizations, and I'm in the middle of The Clash of Civilizations, which if you haven't heard of it is a controversial political conceptualization of the world.
Fiction, non-science fiction: I really liked The Hunt for Red October and 1984.
Science Fiction: Tie between Star Trek: Federation, Star Trek: The Return, and Star Trek: Prime Directive (not that I'd buy lots of potboiler novels, of course).

8) Number -- I can't honestly say I have a favorite number, though 463 should have its day.

9)Day of the week -- Friday. It's the day before Saturday. In my middle and elementary schools, we'd always have deli lunches on Friday, so I learned to look forward to it.

AND I SHALL APPEND!!!!!
10) Aircraft
Military: F-16C Fighting Falcon
Commercial: Boeing 747. It's big.

11) City
New York, followed by Boston, Philadephia, and Chicago, in that order.

12) Season
Winter. I like snow.

Pets?
No.
Last thing you ate?
An apple.
Favorite place to study?
The floor of my room.
