I know it is a ways off, but I had a question about summer seminar.
I have many conflicts (most are unavoidable) that I fear may interfere with my desire to attend the summer seminar, but I feel it may still be possible. I wanted to know if it was still worth applying for knowing I might not be able to go, or should I hold off so that a spot doesn't get reserved for me and someone else is denied. (Basically, is there a limit to the number of people admitted and will my acceptance not allow someone else to go). Thanks for your help.

It is my understanding that there are a limited number of students invited to the summer program. If selected for the program you can accept it or turn it down. If you turn it down another student is given the opportunity. It is an excellent program and if possible, I recommend applying - and if accepted, attending.

Just make sure you take standardized tests, I missed the PSAT and had no scores to submit, and thus I was not admitted. My ACT was 2 weeks after, so it was frustrating that I couldnt go. It's great that you are prepared, and know what is going on.

Apply if you have any chance of going, its a great experience.

Candidates have nothing to lose by applying to SLS. An application will open a candidate file, and if the candidate is lucky enough to be selected he/she is under no obligation to attend. If a candidate declines then the slot is offered to another candidate.

Thanks for the help guys, I will definitely fill out an app. for that when they are available. Just wondering, is going to SLS mention-worthy on other college apps?

Yes, I think that selection for any of the SA summer seminars is well worth including on your other college/scholarship applications. Each seminar has a limited number of openings, so to be selected is, IMO, an honor.

Especially if you're applying for ROTC.

anyway, USMA SLS is the greatest moment you will enjoy in your life!!
