Summer

I know we don't have a thread for summer acceptances...but DS just got his letter of acceptance for Aspen for this summer. He is thrilled!!! Anyone else going there?

Yea!!!!!! Good things come to those who wait. Congratulations. It's extra sweet after his disappointments last year.

My S has been waitlisted for the two programs he auditioned for. So far all he has is a brief gig in Korea. Not sure what he's going to do the rest of the summer.

Thumper, congratulations!!!! That is fabulous. I'm so glad for your S!!

D is also returning to Aspen this summer and she can't wait! I'm hoping we can arrange a one week vacation out there again. It's wonderful.

My son is going to Tanglewood, not BUTI, but as a Tanglewood Music Center fellow. He is very happy to be going. He is heading to graduate school in the fall and still waiting to hear on those.

my DD is heading back to Verbier. She's also waiting to hear from grad schools.

These are impressive options. Congratulations.

Great job to the DSs and DDs of you CCrs!!!! We are still waiting to hear.

DD was named as an alternate for the NYSSSA Orchestra program. This is good bc she had mono when she auditioned (and was down sick for the last month hence no other auditions) and we only decided the day before that we would go. Bad bc now we are in limbo waiting to see if someone drops out. Here is hoping!!!

Acceptances to summer programs are being sent now. Usually there is some "jockeying around" because some kids get accepted to multiple places, and can only go to one place. DS had been accepted off of waitlists in the past....just be prepared because some of these programs literally accept you the day the program is starting. You have to be flexible. Keeping fingers, toes, arms and legs crossed for those who are still waiting.

Yes, keep hoping.
Our S was thrilled that he was 1st on wait list last summer for Eastern Music Festival and was offered a slot about one month before program began.
He even was offered some scholarship $$$ and a 'workstudy' type job that helped greatly with the financial part.
He had a blast there.

Well, musicmom, your post was prophetic. S was first on the waitlist for Music Academy of the West, and just got the phone call! He's very happy. Now trying to square it away with his Korea gig, which is on June 13th, and MAW starts June 15. It is a full scholarship program, so we are thrilled as well.

Binx...that is fabulous news!!!

Wonderful, binx!
Full scholarship too......that's music to a family's ears!!!
Congratulations to your son.

Super news for everyone! Congrats to all the musicians and their supportive, helpful, long-suffering/ever-cheering families!

Any idea when Tanglewood sends notice?

I think it was mid-April... Good luck!

I was told that admission notification will be made
by April 1st.
Not sure if it will be through snail mail or e-mail.........
Interlochen will be in the next two weeks.
Brevard posted theirs already.....on the waitlist there.

I'm waitlisted at Brevard too (sigh... at least it wasn't an outright rejection). Anybody know how many kids they waitlist and how likely/unlikely it is to get a spot?
Still waiting on Tanglewood.

DS was waitlisted at Brevard last summer and receive an acceptance call two days before the program began. He had already made other summer plans and had paid for them, otherwise he would have gone. Getting off the waitlist is dependent on how many of your instrument do not choose to come for one reason or another.
