My son heard tonight he was accepted to Harpur. The portal had changed today so hoping today was the day!
I got deferred
@Ntge21 The status change email came first. The “You are the one” email came about an hour later.
Can you plz share the stats maybe?
Submitted a score (an above average one at that) to Harpur yet still have not heard (and I did check my portal today). I’m probably getting deferred.
Got deferred from early action today 1/12/20. Honestly depressing as saying bing was my dream school still cannot encompass how badly I wanted to get in. Does anyone know a source/data for the likelihood of students getting accepted into regular admissions after being deferred?
4.0 UW GPA. Scored 5s of all APs except 4 on one. Involved in science research program since freshman year. Part time job as a file clerk in a law firm.
I got deferred for nursing
Accepted a couple of days ago to SOM! Excited!!
3.93 UW GPA, 34 ACT, and in-state. 7 APs with 4s and 5s and 5 dual-enrolled courses. Strong essay and lots of out-of-the-box ECs.
Why would out-of-state hear first?
Dually-enrolled where?
To respire101, Which major did you apply?
To Ofer23
Dual-enrolled where? Your deferrment makes no sense. I have heard of people being accepted without being in the top 10-20% of their hs though some were out-of-state. Are the standards lower for out-of-state because the school wants to accept some students who could be charged the higher tuition?
No idea. But they always do. Including this year
Dual Enrollment at both St.John’s University and Kingsborough College.
And i had a lot of volunteer hours, and pretty solid ECs i was definitely surprised to be deferred
I think you have a shot at getting in regular admission after being deferred, you should reach out to the admissions counselor and express your disappointment and continued interest.Tell the EA that it’s your dream school. And send along any successes big and small that come along, just keep touching as much as you can. It’s really not over yet (it’s just more stressful :()
Good luck, We haven’t heard yet and may be in your same boat. If so that’s what we plan on doing. It has worked for others in past years, at least I think so because I know people who were deferred and got in.
Thank you for this, trying to keep up hope!!
