Anyone think there will be decisions released today? Or all tomorrow?
Which school or major? Have you heard if admissions is easier for out-of-state applicants to Binghamton?
For deferred applicants, do you think first applicants from the regular admissions group is evaluated and then depending on available, some deferred applicants will then be accepted, some wait listed and maybe some rejected?
No idea. I applied to Watson and I still havenāt heard yet but this is given I applied the day before the deadline and I switched into Watson in December when my admissions officer said it was early enough in the process.
Iām in state and I applied to Harpur. I have no idea if it is easier for out of state students, however I would assume that they do not weight the applications differently.
My son
got his acceptance last night
I know some people who have been admitted over the years who were above average students but they definitely did not have the application credentials that people in this thread have. Some of them were out of state though. Has Bing got a lot more difficult in recent years?
itās also possible to transfer into Bing for those who start somewhere else.
on the bing YouTube the head of admissions stated that they donāt really do them in a specific order they just kinda have each counselor bring a handful to be discussed at a time so as for deferred and RD they will probably just be random mixed in together.
Do all the admissions employees read every application or are specific people assigned to specific applications?
I would assume its a mix of both because I donāt see how they could all always be together for every application. But I would assume based off what the women said in the video that for the most part they do it together
I was wondering the same thing, given the date I was hoping theyād release them tonight and tomorrow, Iām convinced itāll happen when we donāt remember to check the portal lol
Sitting on egg shells over here, waiting in state for Bing SOM. Hoping to hear before Friday because if he is deferred from SOM he may apply regular decision for Harpurā¦ Iām starting to think they may go past the January 15 deadline, this is an unusual year and they pbly have more applications than ever, plus theyāre trying to weigh in the applicants without scores (like my kid), itās got to be a huge undertaking!!
They say all EA decisions will be out by the 15th. Bearcat Chats - Answering All Your Admissions Questions! - YouTube
What interests him as a major from each of SOM and Harpur?
Along with what the what the head of undergrad admissions said about how they review them she also stated that they will be very flexible with the deadlines and it is still open after the 15th as long as you contact them prior because they understand its a hard year for everyone
He is interested in business/law- likes SOM for business management, and Harpur for political science, and may go to business school or law school at some point. He has good stats so applied to SOM, bummer if he loses the opportunity to attend Binghamton bc he tried for a more competitive program. We shall see.We need to try to get answers to this question, what happens if you go for SOM, do you forgoe Harper and the answers were all over the place.Even from Bing. I guess each case is decided on its merits.
Meant to say we tried to get answers to the question of whether or not to go for SOM and what would happen if he did not get in, could he be a candidate for Harpur , and the answers were all over the place. It seems to not be clear and may be on a case by case basis.
My sonās portal was updated yesterday to say he is now being considered as part of the RD pool. We are out of state and he applied to the college of engineering. Not too disappointed considering it has taken this long and he has been accepted since into other colleges and therefore has other options. Good luck to all who are still waiting to hear.
Itās great that he has other options, but also remember that a deferral is not a rejection. Bing is throwing some of the early decision applicants into the regular pool, he may still get in. I know of many kids in past years who have gotten in just this way.
I am sending you a message.
This waiting is torturous. Did anyone who is still waiting for a decision email their admission counselor for an update? They must have made decisions at this point and are just delaying rolling them out. Could they still possibly be reading applications? ugghhh-
