@WilliamNYC I disagree and did not mean to be insulting, I was just curious. I know there are students who do not excel at standardized testing yet outperform others at school, however I know that there are also students who do not excel at standardized testing and cheat to outperform others at school. I am sure you know this also.
@kevinanglin defered applications are basically added to the RD pool with a notification before April 1. Considering how they handled the EA pool, this again can be a drawn out process all the way till the end of March…
Your comment was extremely nasty and quite uncalled for. You really have no right to question someone’s honesty, That is just mean spirited.
Actually @jdmazdbacks you can ‘give your admission to one of us’. Simply retract your application and Bing will give the slot you vacate to another applicant.
@Mattrophy
Deferral is basically hell for me because
- I literally waited two months just to get deferred at the last min
- I worked my ass off for 4 years to basically not get accepted
- I’m pretty sure regular decision is going to be even more competitive because the pool is going to be even bigger than Early Decision (and they dont give priority to deferred kids? which sucks :(( )
Most important: 4. I really don’t know what to do. Like I really want to get a spot at Bing but I don’t know what else I’m missing from my application. I feel like there’s more I can add to my common app but I guess it’s a little too late.
But looking at the bright side. Yes. At least I’m not rejected which means I still have a chance!! Thank the lords!!! To everyone that got accepted, you deserve every right for that spot and I honestly hope from the very bottom of my heart that you are happy with where you are. Alright, see you guys in next round!!
@jdmazdbacks lol no I took a lot of aps, worked hard and excelled so that was my weighted gpa- thought I would mention that as that is what my schools rank is based off of. UW was 96. I’m 20/400 in my class. For some reason I struggled in the sat, scored higher on my junior psat than all 3 of my sats. Good luck. Thank you @WilliamNYC
Really disappointed at how Binghamton has released decisions. S has already been accepted to 4 early action schools. Waiting on Northeastern. Nothing from Binghamton. 32ACT and 4.5W GPA. Applied to Watson.
Agree @copper86. It’s not as much that Bing is late for some people. It’s the drip-drip release of notifications every day that’s just bad. Creates anxiety every single day at 7.15PM. Doesn’t Bing have a psychology department with really smart professors to come up with something better?
@asdfadds I’m of the mindset that it isn’t over until its over. If I may make a suggestion (not knowing much information other than what you posted), reach out to your area’s admission rep if you haven’t already (email is a great start). Tell him/her your situation and let them know that Bing is your first choice, ask them questions about what the right candidate looks like in their opinion because to your point, you may be missing some key things from your application that it is not too late to add. Demonstrating interest, showing perseverance and commitment can sometimes make a difference and you have absolutely nothing to lose. I do not like to leave anything up to chance. Go for it and good luck!
@WilliamNYC Yea he received notification around 1/15. They deferred him to April then they waitlisted him in April and told him that he wouldn’t know till June. Meanwhile he went to check out UB, loved it and put a deposit down. He is an engineer major and he feels UB has been better tha Bing for that major. I don’t like Bings process with waitlisting because they tell you to put down a deposit to another school just in case they don’t accept you. Well all deposits are non refundable after May 1 so you essentially are throwing away money if Bing does accept you and you go there.
Does any one know if they send descions on the weekends?
Not necessarily @Robgal74. Some schools are understanding if one gets a wait list spot and might reimburse the deposit. You could check with the school you have put the deposit down when the wait list offer by Bing materializes.
And also this approach to waitlisting is not unique to Bing. All schools advise students to put other arrangements in place…
My daughter got her EA acceptance last night:
ACT 32
SAT 1450
No real GPA - she dropped out of high school after Sophomore year and went to Community College and will get her GED in the spring.
Major: Biology (pre-Vet)
@lcprend , no decisions during the weekend. Enjoy the time to de-stress…
Got accepted to SOM on December 6th. 95.47 gpa. 32 ACT (34 E 34 R 32 M 28 S)
DD got the invitation to scholars in the mail today! She is really excited.
Got accepted to SOM yesterday! Applied early action.
When did she get accepted?
When did she get accepted?
@rachelgreen18 - she got accepted back in mid-November.
