Well, I am in a bit of shock right now as I just got waitlisted. I considered Northeastern to be a safety/match for me. Could it be possible that because I turned my application in so late (like 1130 pm the night it was due) that the school was already full? Or was I really not good enough?

recs- awesome (close personal relationship with gc, who talked about personal issue freshman year explaining lack of ec's)
essay- okay

I've gotten into all my other schools so far with merit scholarships at each, and I would definitely say those schools are at the same level/above Northeastern academically. I don't get it.

all I can say is .. . wow. You definitely deserve a spot at NEU despite when your app. was turned in. You should definitely be at the top of the waitlist pile.

I got waitlisted here too...I found out yesterday.

just like you I am shocked also

I, like you did, submitted my application minutes before midnight on the deadline.

I was surprised becuz I had already got into bucknell and CWRU with a scholarship.

neu was my safety as well

I live in MASs too and I actually think that the time we submitted the applications came to be a big factor because my friend with lower stats than mine submitted his in early january and he got his acceptance in the end of januaray. I am suspecting that the admission process at neu is kind of rolling.
I guess they accepted him because he qualified, and then started waitlisting applicants who would normally make the admission, because so many people have applied there this year.

I am depressed becuz neu was actually a good option for me.

I agree. Northeastern was in my top three- I would have gone there if I don't get into GW or NYU, but now that NEU isn't an option anymore, I have to completely rethink everything. I guess I didn't realize that their admissions process was rolling.

How could you have already gotten in to Bucknell unless you applied ED... and if thats the case you would have needed to withdraw your applications. (i also applied there and i'm getting very antsy that i haven't heard)

I don't get it...I had a 1410 (790v/620m), a 30ACT and a similar average and I was accepted into the Honors Program. If I can get in, you most certainly should have gotten in. Tat doesn't make any sense at all.

I think the problem might be that NEU assumed that it was being treated as a safety school. No school wants to send an admittance letter to an applicant that probably won't accept.

Did you visit the school or indicate in other ways that you would seriously consider an acceptance? If not, that could be why you were not accepted, because you're certainly more than qualified.

I visited and sent a letter from two alumni and sent a copy of my community service award when i received it. but apparently they arent alone in thinking im a sucky applicant, just got waitlisted at bu. what a fabulous week i am having
