I will actually agree with you on some stellar points it seems since the Nancy Cantor days Syracuse has become less of a complete academic institution and leaned quite formidably as a academic/sports institution but the new Chancellor has some new ideas to rectify some of the latter shortcoming. And to be quite honest and not to garner any sympathy I am a disabled American who’s been through the Vietnam War as well as spent a career of actually working for a living and living on less than the tuition of SU on a yearly basis. My only advice on your last post is if and possibly when the next financial disaster occurs it wont be pretty and all of us will be absolutely affected. Especially those of us on a mere fixed income. Not all SU grads are hopelessly poor and some are underpaid maybe it is time for us as not only Americans but members of the World community spend some time volunteering our talents to those less fortunate and stop worrying about money ,movie stars and celebrities…sorry I’m going off on a tangent lol
What I do like about your posts are they are opinionated and strangely enough in my own sick way I find them quite refreshing in that they are not run of the mill “lemmings” posts
btw, a friend got in last week with 54k in aid and she’s thrilled. she’s going
ow22, in your day a year at su was $4200 with mean family income at $13200. today su is $62500 with a mean family income. is $53000. a disgrace. but not for the administrators at su, they al have the grandest homes.
When you say 54K in aid is that grants or "financial aid"which means loans in my book which technically is NOT aid but some macabre form of BS to fool the masses
Sorry, I have been in school all day. I’ve been checking in but have debate and yearbook the last two periods so I’ve been rather busy. But I think Syracuse is a great school. Given it is my second choice school, Duke being my number one, but I honestly think I would be extremely happy at SU. I think it is a great school. I have visited before and I love it. Plus I have friends who go to the school so I think it would be amazing for me. I don’t think it is fair to talk down on a school simply because of how you feel about it. You can present your side in a civilized manner saying the negatives, however you should also include the positives. Like Syracuse’s great political science program for example.
I have not heard back yet. I applied to Newhouse school with a 93 GPA and 1930/2400 SATs with strong extracurriculars. If I haven’t heard back does that mean I’m rejected? And if not can someone chance me?
austin i’m not talking down syr because of my feelings. i’m giving y’all the facts. if i wanted to demean some schools based on my feelings i have a lot of schools i hate due to their teams. i am an su sports fan, always have been, doesn’t cloud my view of the academics. if your first choice is duke and your second is syr, you have a high fever.
@filmstu I applied to newhouse and put whitman and arts and sciences both as backups with basically the same grades and SAT as you and I am yet to hear as well, but I highly doubt that not hearing yet means it’s a rejection.
I believe very few people heard today. They posted on twitter. Seems that the majority get it on Friday in order to keep the system from crashing. (It looks like it would crash easily tbh haha)
