well, time to move on I guess; i applied to 15 schools, and SU is my last; tired of waiting; gotta say some schools, whether big or small, really have it together in the way they communicate through the admissions process; two best were Chapman and Rhodes; two worst, Syracuse and LMU
throughout the admissions process
Looks scary if you look at last years waves the beginning were accepted the middle rejected and the later ones seem to be deferred (waitlisted) and SU had two waves this year of ED so I’m thinking Friday will be Waitlisted Friday .Does anyone have any thoughts on this theory ?
@OrangeWhite22 definitely valid! There’s still one thing that confuses me: isn’t the national college decision deadline May 1st? If they wait list a large group of applicants at this point, it can be assumed they won’t be able to commit before that date. Just not sure how it works exactly.
My son has heard from 8 other schools he has applied to but still waiting on SU. At this point I feel the University has handled this so poorly in terms of telling folks in waves that we are inclined to look elsewhere if he is admitted. And I have an MBA from SU and a senior graduating Whitman in May.
This is my last school to hear from. The school’s admission’s communication has been virtually non existent. I am thinking looking at last year’s trend that most outstanding notifications will be wait list.
Hi I also applied to chapman Syracuse and lmu. I’m just wondering what other schools u applied to out of curiosity and if you have heard anything from lmu because I havnt and I’m losing hope
@kellyann the national college decision deadline May 1st is correct but there are other facts to be played here. nowadays students apply to many schools which adds more burden to the Admission departments therefore it may take longer. Also if you have noticed this can in my estimation open more slots than usual for waitlisted students .In the past students in general applied to maybe 3 or maybe 4 schools now some students apply to as many as 20 (yes 20) where they are getting the $$$ to pay for application fees I don’t know. But the effect of this can be beneficial to waitlisted students since many acceptances are in the pool. I believe that is you really want to get into a particular school then you should accept the waitlist and or the deferral to Spring semester
Same here im worried to
@kellyann1205 if you are on the wait list, you typically don’t find out if you’re in until May or even June, because the school has to sort through who accepts by May 1. So, if you do a wait list, you typically have to send in a non-refundable deposit at another school and lose it if you get in on the wait list. It’s the cost of doing business on the wait list…
@kellyann1205 Yup. They said that they were in the midst of making decisions(some were left) and would send them in the first week of April. They didn’t say that they would drag it out to the second week of april.
@kellyann1205 what do you mean by “some were left” ? some meaning rejections? admittances? waitlists? Will there be any more students actually getting admitted for the fall ?
I called earlier this morning @orangewhite22 because if my D gets in,We would like to visit asap. I was informed Syracuse does not have a “deadline” aka April 1st. They said they release thier decisions in waves and my D should hear back within a week. I asked about a specific day and they mentioned it had been done on the last 2 fridays, but it could be on a different day.
I wish they could just tell us. They even looked my D up, I am sure they could see the decision.
@Bostonsportsfan No Not yet. I called this am and they told me she should hear in the next wave within a week. They also mentioned Syracuse does not have a decision deadline aka “april 1st” which surprised me. Did you hear back?
well, after reading all the feedback, i gave up on LMU too; checked my status the other day and it just said denied; got a letter a few days later; I applied to a bunch of schools, only rejected from the ones where I didn’t have a portfolio, no surprise because I just decided fairly recently that I am interested in film; I will probably go to Emerson or UCSC; I am grateful for the acceptance; Chapman is a possibility for liberal arts because I am seriously impressed by everything from their website to the way they communicate
So, its back to waiting…
ok guys. i just called. they said i should be recieivng my decision shortly followed by email. She said it will be followed up with regular mail. People that got declined, did you receive only a email. Or did they mail you something too. Because, Im trying to figure out if she was hinted thta I got accepted. Why would they decline me by mail and email. Im hoping that they only mail acceptances. Also under my financial aid it says that I have no awards at this time. Does it only say that for people that got in. Anyone that got accepted is that what is said before u found out u got accepted. Do you remember what is said under financial aid and acceptance letter.
mine has said that i have no awards at this time for as long as i can remember and still waiting
today shortly or a few days shortly?
didnt say when. just said shortly
