Take honors next year or move down to regular

I am currently a sophomore right now in Algebra II honors. My grades have been inconsistent this year:
1st quarter: 81
2nd: 91
3rd: 85
4th: right now 79
5th: the regents final
I moved to honors this year, as this is my for year in honors math. I was previously in regular Algebra I and geometry. The thing in my school is that’s with the new common core regents, the regular classes do much worse on the regents. Not many kids get in the 90’s. I got 80’s in both of my Algebra and geometry regents, and i hope I do better on the regents final this year. Some tests i get solid 80’s, while others are 70’s.
Should i stay in honors or move down again next year for precalculus? The regular classes for math I’ve taken are easy, but then the final is hard. So far in honors the class is difficult in terms of the tests.

There isn’t a regents exam for precalc. The final would be one developed by the teachers. It sounds like you might feel better with non honors, since it would give you more of an opportunity to solidly and consistently learn the material. The worst that would happen is that it would best set you up for Calc AB (or DE Calc 1) for senior year, rather than Calc BC. But it sounds like that would be a benefit for you.

Check whether your school allows you to take calculus after precalculus regular - many high schools don’t allow that.
What other classes are you taking?
What sorts of universities are you thinking of?
What’s your EFC?
Right now you have a B in honors so I’d stick with honors you should take the most rigorous class you can get a B in, asba else of thumb.

Junior year: AP US
honors or AP English
Honors chemistry
Regents physics
Regular or honors precalculus

Sophomore year: AP World
English Regular (no honors or AP in 10th grade)
French regular
Algebra II honors
Earth science (was horrible at biology, they wouldn’t let me take chemistry)

Senior year; I plan to take an AP science

I am a competitive swimmer, hoping to swim in college, does NYSSMA (music)

You can’t take an AP science if you did poorly in Biology and weren’t allowed in chemistry. Perhaps see if you can take regular chemistry. Even APES would be really hard with horrible grades in biology and no chemistry background.

You need to take at least one more year of French (selective colleges want level 3, top colleges want level 4 or AP).

My recommendation would be
APUSH
AP Lang
French 3 (4?)
Honors Precalculus
Regular Chemistry
Regents Physics
(+ elective)

My school still allows. But why would doing poor in biology dictate my grade in AP physics let’s say. I got an 82 in biology, have a 95 in earth science right now
