Hello,

I was accepted into NYU, but my scores are in the middle 50% for the school, so I received no scholarships. At all. I got $5,500 in grants and that's it...I'm out of state so I also need a dorm. I calculated I have to take out about $42k in loans a year...I'm a nursing student. So far, I have chosen not to go. My family has a super low income, so they cannot help me out. :/ the thing is, I REALLY love NYU and NYC. I know it's not a smart financial decision, but does anyone want to input their opinion? So far I have chosen to attend Minnesota - twin cities.

Thank you!

Sorry…more like 55k a year…

I agree that $42k or $55k per year is way too much. I’m sorry NYU didn’t work; it happens a lot.

WAIT.
Call up the financial aid office and ask if they could re-review your financial aid package!
I was in the same situation as you, but I called yesterday (as a glimmer of hope came over me) and asked if they could review it… so…, I longed on this morning and they offered me $40,000 is scholarships!
I was so happy! Who knows?! It may work for you, too. Don’t give up just yet.

:)

Did we have to show them our tax return forms?

I only got loans, LOL. Like 3,000 for work study and the rest is loans. I was expecting so much more because my mom’s single and she has no income.

^
You should have gotten a lot more then… I would definitely call the financial aid office as soon as possible.

Check your Financial To Do List on Albert first though, you may be missing an essential document…

That’s exactly what happened to me at first. But like I said, just call up and have them review for FA packet and they should let you know within a week, or sooner, (I knew the next day.)

Omg, thank you for telling me or else I would have never known. How much aid should I be getting? I also got a scholarship for BU, can I appeal with that as well? It’s not even that much, and BU can’t really equate to NYU…
