I have a 3.2 gpa in high school right now and i had a couple questions about the TAP program at PCC:

Does anyone who applies with a 3.0 and above get in or do they choose?

How much does the TAP program raise your chances of getting into UCLA?

When you're in the TAP program, do you have to deal with getting classes and staying in community college for more then two years because you couldnt get the classes you need? Or the TAP program is completely seperate from the regular classes.

1) Do you mean if TAP is a guarantee for 3.00+? The answer is no.

2) No one can give you a definite answer, but it does help significantly.

What happens is that you’re evaluated on your primary major, and if you don’t get in, they consider you for your alternate. TAP gives you two shots at the pool.

3) To get TAP, you finish a certain amount of honors classes. Honors classes should be restricted to only people in the honors program, so you’ll be competing with the smaller pool of honors students for honors classes. (Many of my classmates in honors classes are only there because it’s easier to get classes.)

You can get into the TAP program if you meet their requirements. In my school it was a min gpa of 3.2 and you had to pass English 1A before applying. There was a different set of requirements if you wanted to use your high school GPA however.

What BostonCrmPie said, but it also depends on your major. TAP probably doesn’t help impacted majors as much but you have the chance to have an alternate major which is awesome.

3.What Boston CrmPie said here is correct again. TAP is separate from regular classes but you can choose to take an honors course of what you need to take i.e philosophy majors can take philosophy honor courses (this is probably a better idea). You can finish TAP in one semester technically if you attend all the honors courses in one semester (but this is not a good idea). If you choose to not finish TAP it is ok, as long as you finish your prereqs and IGETC.
