for essay #3, I formatted it as more of a letter? So like me directly addressing the person I “hurt,” like reflecting on what happened over a course of a few months, then what I wish happened like an ideal reality. I addresses all aspects of the prompt, and shows reflection but it isn’t a traditional essay format so idk
@soswonderland I think this shows your creativity!
I know someone asked this before, but what are you all interested in? As your first choice
And anyone know if these choices affect our acceptance? because i don’t want to be super vague and give them no direction but i honestly just like all of them :’)
@carrotchild no I don’t think your choice affect your acceptance. I think they just look at the strength of your essays and your performance during the interview, maybe a little on teacher rec and grades… but they distribute the participants to different seminars after they are accepted.
I really hope to go to Cornell 1 and I like all of them too! Even though I am not so interested in comics, I will still be over the moon if I got in
What’s the due date??
Jan 16 11:59 pm
Or
Jan 15 11:59 pm
@cxnxicee same!!! i love cornell 1 so much
@soswonderland hmmm… idk if it depends on the browser you’re using or something (I have no idea how this works), but mine just says at the bottom “remove xxx characters.” However, it still lets me move on to the next page and submit.
Yeah can anyone CONFIRM if it’s 11:59 on Jan 15 or 16? It just says due Jan 16 but I"m really freaking out over it.
It’s the 16th!
OMG I just submitted my form. It feels so weird to be finally done with it. XD Good Luck to everyone!
It’s due Jan 16 11:59 pm
What if we meet the word limit, not the character limit? Also, do you think they’d mind if I explained some parts of the list?
I think you’ll be fine if you meet the word limit but not the character limit as long as it’s not overboard. Also, does anyone know what the “community activities” of our parents are?
Hey guys! Just a question- I’m doing essay #2 on a documentary and I have a couple concerns…
- I know the question for the second prompt says that the text can include a movie, and I will assume that documentaries are categorized under movies lol… do you think that my essay will be valid as long as I analyze/refer to specific segments of an interview and what was said in it?
- Probably a silly thing, but the question asks you to talk about how the text affected your opinion on an issue. My issue is a global economic issue- the prompt is pretty open-ended, so it’s fine if my problem isn’t a domestic or necessarily American one, correct?
Just hoping all of my essays are acceptable- the questions are really open-ended so I’m assuming I have some leeway on what I choose to talk about, just a bit concerned though haha!
Also, just a positive affirmation- no one will tell you this b/c we know procrastination is bad and all, but if you’ve read the prompts a while ago and have kept these essays in your thoughts for a really long time, I think that if you give yourself ample time in these last couple of days to write and edit, your opinions will come together really nicely. people will brag about how quickly they’ll write an essay, but I think sufficient room to think and reflect is all that’s necessary to have a really thoughtful piece of writing down! good luck to everyone in the process, just give yourself more than a day to write though haha
@lightning3201 That was reassuring! Nice to have some panic quelled on this thread.
Hey everyone! Just curious, what books/movies/etc. are you writing about for the second prompt? And for the first prompt, are you focusing on one or two specific events, or talking about your experiences without zoning in on one or two events?
@lightning3201 What you’re doing sounds completely fine and the people reviewing your app are going to be open minded about your topic choice
@Correcto I’m doing a book (sorry if I don’t want to go into detail or anything just for the thirsty junior kids scrolling through the forums… ^^;) and for the first prompt, I’m zoning into two experiences, one for each section of the prompt
@Sougiya cool, thanks!
