Teach For America 2014 Corps

@Afradett91 my group had that same ratio…did you interview on Wednesday? Lol

@TFAtobe I know you have until 3/2 to change your preference region, so if you have to change it, you still have a chance.

@Afradett91 I high preferences Seattle, then CT & NYC. But I have a special circumstance for Seattle, so I could only accept if offered placement there.

@NCSUTeach Alright, will do. How should I go about the survey?

Ok- now I’m starting to worry about the surveys and not getting one. It seems like people from many areas received the survey right after their interview. Is this the new tell?

Had my interview this past Monday, thought it went decently. There were certainly lessons that were great and ones that were below the one I did… However, I was just curious if anyone already submitted their Transitional Funding documents and have gotten their status changed from Under Review to Complete? Apparently, in previous cycles, those that got changed to complete were usually accepted (makes sense, they would only review it if they expected to accept you).

BTW this is not the status on the main page of the application, but rather the specific tab that gives a more in-depth look at transitional funding specifically.

@PSP1234 Where did you interview at?

@TFAtobe You can just answer the survey that you aren’t interested in the area anymore. That’s pretty much what the survey is about. They want you to read about the area and then decide if it could still be a good fit for you.

@needtoteach I wouldn’t be worried. I read through most of this thread and not many if at all, people mentioned getting one.

@PSP1234 I applied but haven’t seen a change. Though I didn’t expect to until next week because today was the deadline

@needtoteach in Washington, D.C., which was a little intimidating of an environment. I think I would have felt a little bit better during my process if I didn’t interview alongside professionals who already worked in the Pentagon for 20 years lol.

@PSP1234 I would have felt better if I wasn’t the oldest in my group LOL I am sure you did great

@NCSUTeach I sure hope your right. This process really does make you second guess yourself and I am normally a quite confident person

@needtoteach I totally understand. I was stressing myself out so much the first few days after the final interview. But now it’s over and done with and all we can do is wait and check our TF status. haha.

That’s too funny. I wish I wasn’t obsessed with getting in. I just keep wondering if I should change my preferences.

*Hey everyone, I’m just working on re-arranging some of the regions that I placed on my assignment preference list and I was wondering if anyone knew if TFA was going to be placing corps members in the Idaho this year. I read a news story which indicated that TFA is trying to start fall 2014 with 30 corps members, but I’m a little wary since it was not an official TFA press release.

@NCSUTeach If this was my only placement chance than I wouldn’t outright turn it down to be honest, but I might take a competing offer over this placement. I’m just going to be honest on this survey and see what happens thanks for the help

@TFAtobe what area was your survey for?

@NCSUTeach or anyone else: Do you think it looks bad to change preferences at this time? I was thinking of changing them anyway because I put Hawaii and Washington in my preferred list but I don’t want to go to Hawaii especially because of the Quarantine mandates and cost to bring a pet-- There is no way I would go without my dog for 5-120 days

@needtoteach No, I got emails saying we were allowed to change our preferences up until 3/2. I think they do this, because they encourage some people to change to high need areas during the interview. Washington DC or State?

@NCSUTeach Washington State-- Thinking of taking off only because of the high ongoing professional development costs. I have two teenagers and the cost is really expensive

@needtoteach yeah, the certification cost there is $11,000. But there is an option to get a masters of education starting your second year. I wonder if any of the teaching certification overlaps with the masters program. Washington was my only highly preference

@NCSUTeach Same as yours
