@tfatobe did you have any special circumstances for that area?

@NCSUTeach no, it was just on the highly preferred list. Do you think WA is my only opportunity? a part of me feels like it is

Ok changed preference form- Colorado (special circumstance but not desperate need) Jacksonville, FL Oklahoma and then eastern NC moved Oklahoma from least to highly preferred and took Hawaii off completely left everything else pretty much the same

@tfatobe No, not at all. Why do you feel that way?

@NCSUTeach I’ve asked around, not a lot of people get surveys after their interview. So the fact that I got reached out specifically for a region seems like their interested in me for my interest in coming here (originally)

@tftobe the gist I got from the survey is, they want you know it is not a very established region, it is only a couple years old. So they want you to know that it’s going to be challenging and that there are a lot of vocal people who are against TFA. I think they just really want you to have some insight, just to see what’s in store. They want to make sure the people who want that area know what they are getting into. They accept you before they place you.

@ncsuteach I understand that but I don’t fully take them for their word that that is their only intent.

They say they accept you before they place you but placement is one of the 3 things they look for when picking applicants so I don’t believe that either

@TFAtobe I feel like they do accept applicants before they place you. This may be why the TF status changes for a few and then they don’t get accepted. They accepted those applicants whose TF status changed to complete but then rejected them because they could not place them. It seemed that those who TF status never changed and their documents were never verified were also rejected. Of course I don’t know this for sure but this is my opinion.

@needtoteach but yet at the end they still do not accept them, meaning we agree! You may be right

@ncsuteach also needtoteach had WA on their preferred list as well but didn’t get the survey email either which makes me think that this may be the best opportunity to be accepted

@tfatobe well you do what you deem is best for you. I know it’s hard not to over analyze every thing. But just stay positive! I’m glad for this board because y’all are all feeling the same things as me.

Are you guys applying for TF? I’m not, but I wish I had something like that to obsess over, though!

@mossmoss I applied and I’m obsessively checking it! Haha

@NCSUTeach, keep us updated! lol

Also, has anyone received the post-interview survey yet?

I didn’t get a post interview survey?

They just finished the last of the final interviews. I am hoping that they don’t start sending out the surveys and doing TF until Monday at the earliest. Of course, that may just be wishful thinking on my part.

Reading these posts make me even more anxious and nervous for March 13th -.- My TF is still “Under Review” so I hope it will change to Complete soon because I chose one high priority region (Las Vegas) and Appalachia (which my interviewer encouraged me to stay with it after I told her I picked it as my highly preferred region). Also, I did not get any survey regarding any of the regions I chose and definitely did not get the post-interview survey either. Reading College Confidential on TFA 2014 is even more nerve-wrecking but I cannot stay away haha -.- Any of you guys chose Las Vegas, Appalachia, San Diego (expansion region), Bay area, and Delaware?

@kv4life I chose Appalachia, however I’m a bit worried about earning a teaching certificate if there are no schools in the area partnered with TFA. My interviewer said that TFA has other programs to help earn a certification, but I’m still a little bit worried. What did your interviewer tell you about the region?

-Also did anyone pick an expansion region as a preference? I’m interested in Idaho, but if TFA won’t be placing anyone there this year I don’t want to use up one of my preference choices on a region thats not really a viable option.

@cholt5 I could be wrong but if Appalachia is one of TFA’s regions then they should have partnerships with some of the schools there. The only thing my interviewer told me about the Appalachia region is the fact that it is rural, below poverty line and the school system is extremely poor and the racism against non-caucasian exists does there but overall non-existent (if that makes sense lol) she seemed pleased with the fact that I chose the region so I hope it will help with my acceptance chance.

I also chose San Diego (potential expansion region) mostly because I love SD and hoping they will expand there for 2014 but my number one choice is still Las Vegas Valley (high priority region).

Good luck @cholt5
maybe we will be placed in Appalachia together lol

@kv4life I saw on the “Where we teach” page for Appalachia that under master’s degree in the expenses section it said no formal partnerships, but you can earn a teaching certification in 3 years. Appalachia has been one of my preferred choices from the start so it would be great to be placed there! Good luck to you as well!
