Teach For America 2014 Corps

That describes how I feel exactly. I could go for some general anesthesia right now!

I also requested special circumstances and my documents are yet to be reviewed.

@SeNoritaTFA I know exactly how you feel :(

@senoritatfa *raises hand slowly, I’m so lucky that work is crazy this week and I’ve been super busy. Plus this blog makes the days fly by, I do wish we al here get in! That would be amazing. Can we all agree to post on acceptance day regardless of the outcome? I know I will

@tfahopeful21 yea I know of that one guy, I hope I’m not waitlisted. I ain’t take waiting any longer. I was pretty open far as placement, so I’m inclined to say if I’m waitlisted that it means a no.

Question did anyone have a really short interview? Did your interviewer ask you about regional preferences at all?

@seNoritaTFA honestly, I am having those exact thoughts right now. I just ate an obnoxious amount of raw cookie dough to calm my nerves. Did not work.

My TF status changed from “Complete” with all my supporting documents marked “Yes” to “Under Review” and now reads “we have not reviewed your application or documents” but my supporting documents are still marked “Yes”. Is this happening for anyone else?!

@TFAHopeful21 That’s happening to most “complete” TFers. Youre not alone.

@TFAHopeful21, that is exactly what mine did! Okay, so to make up for my gloomy comment, here is a little cheer:

[Andy and Amy’s Haunted House - YouTube](<a href=“Andy and Amy's Haunted House - YouTube”>Andy and Amy's Haunted House - YouTube)

The “we have not reviewed your application or documents” is a little concerning, especially since my documents are still marked “Yes”

@SeNoritaTFA Thanks for the funny clip. I was cracking up through the whole thing!

@TFAhopeful89 One of my recruiters talked to me about how they select their corps members. Although your final interviewers have to submit their selections to what I assume to be the national admissions team, your interviewers pretty much decide who is accepted. He told me each interviewer does it differently, but they pretty much all look at all of your admissions materials and then make a final determination on whether or not you should be given an offer. This makes me feel good and bad because I feel like my interviewer and I had a good rapport, but he was a little weird. It was hard to read him haha!

@rolemodel32 yea, my interviewer informed me that she would decide if I’m in or not. Specifically we talked after the interview, she asked me where I preferenced and I told her. She also said she felt I’d do well in which ever region I’m placed in. She then proceeded to day she would decide my acceptance but she wasn’t responsible for my region placement.

Did anyone have a short interview? Mine was pretty short at least I think so. I was asked 3 conversational questions then we began small talk and how I did on the role play.

I thought my interviewer asked many questions. I thought I totally nailed everything, but wasn’t sure how the interviewer interpreted my answers. I cried during my interview! Happy tears of joy talking about my passion of teaching! So embarrassing…we shall see! But no, my interview was nothing but short lol

If I had to guess where I went wrong, it was then. But I guess that I was myself and I can honestly say I did my best. For statistical purposes for future cyber stalkers, I went straight to the final interview without a phone interview.

@teachtoreach my interview was insanely short. Only about 20 minutes or so. I felt like it went fine, but not spectacular and it really alarmed me how short mine was, as I felt like maybe I was not saying enough. She did not even ask me many questions, just a few short things than the role play. But I really just gave my best answers so I guess that is all I could have done.

My interview was actually pretty long - the full 45 minutes, and at the end I didn’t even really want it to end. She asked a lot of questions and asked me to elaborate on a lot of my answers, specifically the online activity and my various accomplishments of my work experience.

Hey guys,

New to the thread here…thought I would pipe in after noticing my TF has not been reviewed or verified.

At this stage late in the game, guess I’ll have to throw in my hat. Doesnt look like it was meant to be :(

Congrats to you guys who are seeing change in your TF notifications in some capacity.

My interviewer didn’t ask me anything about the online a activity! That makes me worried. But my interview was also only around 20 minutes. But I did have a phone interview too.

My interview was long but I didn’t want it to end for different reasons. He asked me to talk about my job and one of my extracurricular activities. But I was upset that he didn’t ask me about my progress on this program I started this year. I felt like it was my biggest accomplishment and he didn’t mention it. That’s why I think it’s a benefit to go through a phone interview first because you get a chance to talk about more things. I was sent straight to the final interview, but I expect that was because I worked with TFA in the past.

It was a weird experience because I didn’t anticipate many of the conversational paths we took. He asked me questions about the role-play and my thoughts on the group activity but he wouldn’t move on to the next topic. Whenever I gave an answer, he would ask another question and that would lead to a conversation on something completely unexpected. We ended up discussing my personal opposition to tracking policies within schools and somehow we were talking about playing and watching basketball at one point. So I felt like he got to know the real me, but I don’t know if I was able to connect to the seven competencies like I planned to. I guess we’ll see!!!

Hey all,

I’ve been gone for a while and missed quite a bit of good conversation! So here’s me catching up:

My status, which was complete as of last week, has switched back to under review, and I did indicate special needs for being placed in NYC. I gave 3 reasons and went into detail about each. The recruiter at my university told me to “tell my story” on that part of the preference form because I wouldn’t have another opportunity, so I did just that. I’d be incredibly torn if I were extended a position outside of New York.

As for my interview: I have no idea how long it took, but it wasn’t short. It would have been, but at the end of the interview I asked for a few minutes to elaborate on why I feel passionate about TFA because I didn’t feel the interview questions gave me that opportunity.

I can’t wait until Thursday! At this point, I just want to know! I’m so grateful for all the work I’ve had lately, otherwise I would be losing it.

@ SeNoritaTFA - I know exactly what you mean about wanting to crawl into a hole until 8 pm Thursday! I just found out I’ve been assigned to cover a meeting Wednesday evening for work, and I’m so annoyed about it because I know I’ll be panicking about TFA and completely unable to focus lol :frowning: I seriously wish we had a fast forward button for this week!

@TeachforChange - Don’t lose hope! Lots of people’s TF statuses haven’t changed at all, and the TF people did indicate they’ll be working on applications until tomorrow so it’s still possible you’ll see changes. My documents have been verified but I’m still “under review” and have never seen a “complete” on my page - I’m just praying I’ll be one of those applicants whose status changes on decision day…if you look at old threads, it DOES happen!

@rolemodel I agree with a lot of your points. I didnt talk much about my work in low income communities, and I feel my inyerview was long because of those paths away from what questions I expected. I too did not have a phone interview and think that’s why the interview lasted as long as it did. What kind of work have you done for TFA in the past, if you don’t mind me asking?
