@elemteacher VERY mysterious…It seems that happened to a few people this year…

@jdtobe, @southerngirl23, @silver.pipes415 we’re all in SLA! so exciting!!!

I’ve heard it’s not impossible to switch placements, but it’s incredibly difficult. I don’t know what they require, whether it be a personal reason, but I just know it’s very rare for someone to get switched. I still think you should try if you’re unhappy, especially if your region and/or subject placement is completely out of left field.

I’m sad that the thread is dying! Can we all support each other as we try to process all of this info? That certification test info made my head spin!!!

@rolemodel32 --ahhh! okay so someone else HAS looked through the timelines, etc they have for us!! I feel so overwhelmed right now!

In welcome emails from regions, did everyone get asked to get certified in two subjects? Mine says Primary Certification: Elementary (6-12), Secondary Certification: Math (6-12). I’m terrified of math haha. But why does elementary say 6-12??

@elemteacher Is this an email you got yesterday? In mine, the person said nothing about certification but is supposed to be contacting me today to discuss…everything I guess.

@elemteacher I still haven’t received any communication from the regional team. I got an email from my recruiter but that was it. That’s weird about those certification requirements. I would call your regional manager or director to confirm that because these certification exams are very expensive. And I’ve heard some horror stories of people who took the wrong one and didn’t find out till much later!

@AmbitiousMe: Yeah, it was a welcome email from yesterday. They also said they’d be calling today. It probably just varies by region what information they put in the email.

I feel like I am about to be caught up in a whirlwind.

I’m curious as to what I will be teaching…I received middle school for Houston, but does that mean general? Or they just haven’t decided a specific subject?

Hey guys, glad you’re all still threading! I’m still waiting to hear back, I’m starting to worry I may have to wait until next week. I’m so jealous reading all of the stuff you guys are posting, I pray I get in and can share it with some of you!

@emac542 --I hope you get in too!! Especially after all of this! Sending positive vibes from the west coast :)

@emac542, I can’t wait for you to get your news and be able to share it with us! I am confident it will be good news. I will definitely be checking the thread regularly for your updates :)

@BLACKNEDUCATED I’m guessing that means general but that’s so vague! i’m also curious as to what/who I’ll be teaching. My assignment was General Ed (k-9) or Special Ed (k-6) in NYC…so I really have no idea what I’ll be teaching next year! I could be with kindergarteners or high schoolers or anything in between…

@emac542: I’m so excited for you to find out! I’ll be here waiting too :)

How far will all of y’all be moving? I’m realizing my region is a big move for me, and I’m already getting nervous!

@elemteacher I’m about 45 minutes from my region (which happens to be my hometown).

@elemteacher I’ll be staying in my hometown of NYC so no big move for me. In some ways, I’d really love to explore a new part of the country, but because of family reasons I’m really relieved to have been placed here. Where will you be moving from?

Thanks for the love and support guys!

Yeah, I’m definitely excited to see a new place! I’ve just never experienced such a big move, so it’ll be different. I grew up in NC, am now in Virginia, and will be making my way to Louisiana!

@elemteacher – I’m sure you’ll enjoy Louisiana! If it weren’t for my circumstances I would move to a totally new city. I’ve done it before and it was an amazing experience for me…A great time of personal growth.

@Elemteacher - where in NC did you grow up? My brother recently moved to the Raleigh area. I loved the BBQ when I visited :)
