Teach For America-2017 Corps

Awesome! I got Houston teaching High School English!

Hey guys, anyone waiting for results from the 4th deadline?

@infidelis, I’m anxiously waiting myself! Tuesday is almost here though!

Me too! I had my interview on Monday! I am so excited!

Waiting is so difficult! I had my interview Monday also, and I think it went well. What are your top region and subject choices?

Hey guys someone discovered you could find out your status early if you looked in the code. Go back to pages ~7-10 and someone explains how to do it. Helped me find out I got accepted a week early!

@tfaMathHopeful I wouldn’t mind teaching English, Social Studies/Humanities, ESL, or Technology. I think haha. I have only taught University so I don’t really have any idea about kids. I don’t think I would want to go younger than Middle School? What about you?

Btw guys, I saw last deadline I think people got to choose their preferred regions before the interview? My interviewer said that this deadline we all will speak to a region consultant after we are accepted? At least, that is what I understood haha. Anyway, I don’t really care where I go other than I do not want to be in a rural area.

@northwesttfa Hmm, well mine says my deposition step is “Assignment.” What about you guys?

@Infidelis then I’d like to be the first to say congratulations! Looks like you’re a member of the corps

@northwesttfa Wow, I am really surprised! I thought I didn’t do too well during the one-on-one portion. I was really kind of rambling. So what area will you be teaching in?

@Infidelis I’m going to be teaching in Idaho. My first pick was WA but it was full unfortunately. I believe Colorado is as well. I’m very happy with my placement though! It was my second choice

Can I ask, why Idaho? lol I never hear anything about it, but then again I am from Arkansas.

@Infidelis haha proximity to family and boyfriend in the north west. It’s also really safe and has a super low cost of living and offered subjects I was interested in teaching. Plus my masters will cost almost nothing. It’s a bit rural but the positives cancel out the negatives!

@northwesttfa Oh, that makes sense! I already have a graduate degree so I’m kind of looking for places that don’t require me to get another one. I am kind of thinking about Charlotte, NC but I don’t know if it is a place that get filled quickly.

Since I’m from the Southern Region, I would love to stay here: so I’d be happy with NC (Charlotte), SC, Alabama, or Mississippi. I would like to teach either Math, Computer Science, or Biology!

My DispositionStage=“APPLICANT” and DispositionStep=“ASSIGNMENT”.

My hopes are high now, but I still need that comfort of the official status update!

@tfaMathHopeful Where are you from in the South if you don’t mind me asking? I was thinking Charlotte too, but I’ve never been there.

@infidelis I’m from South Carolina, and I’ve been to Charlotte MANY times, and it is an amazing city. It has a big city vibe, with a southern charm.

@tfaMathHopeful Yeah, I’ve been looking at all the potential places for rent prices, stuff to do, etc,. It seems Charlotte is a good sized city but has some decent prices for rent/entertainment. Plus you can take the amtrak to NYC and other places for pretty cheap. I would prefer if it was a more walkable city though

@tfaMathHopeful Hey, mine says the same thing! I have read the forum and am curious if that is indicative of acceptance? I wasn’t sure if that just meant that we were not processed yet, or what? Had my interview on Tues. and have been anxious ever since! Never wanted anything this badly! Hi everyone, btw!!!

@NorCalTFA Apparently it’s been indicative of acceptance in the past, but I don’t want to get my hopes up too much! I agree with you completely; I’ve never wanted to be a part of something more than this. Hopefully the weekend passes by quickly!

Out of curiositity, when did you interview? I interviewed on the 24th, but have the same code you did.
