Temple 2024

Does anyone have any insight on the engineering college? My son was accepted. He was also accepted to PSU 2+2. But really would rather not do the 2+2. He absolutely loved Temple.

Son applied Oct 30th via the Common App. Accepted into Klein School of Media Nov 23rd.
OOS
3.4 UW GPA
27 ACT
lots of extracurriculars (multiple sports, theater)
Offered University Scholar scholarship worth $5k/year.
It’s something but considerably less than other schools have offered.

@user_788084 Maybe start a new post? I have no real knowledge but I believe their programs are ABET accredited. Should be good to go. Beats waiting to see if you get into the program you want at PSU.

Applied 10/26/19
Accepted 12/17/19!!!

When you guys say “snail mail” I didn’t think it would actually be that SLOW. I got accepted 12/4 and still haven’t received the acceptance letter in the mail.

Hmmm, that doesn’t sound right. My D was accepted 12/12 and we’ve already received her package. And we’re OOS. I gotta admit, though, I didn’t recognize it immediately. With so much coming from random schools she’s never considered, it almost got overlooked. But then I saw “Congratulations!” It does look more like a glossy marketing brochure, not an enveloped.

@rickqwert don’t worry! mine came about 3 weeks later. the holidays are probably slowing things down

@OceanIsle a lot of schools do it with RD decisions so they can do the math on how much they can give each student. Not sure if temple does that but that’s what a lot of them do.

Hi! Temple is my top choice right now and I really want to be accepted!! What do you think my chances are? I’m a senior in high school

  • gpa: 3.3
  • Applied rolling admission
  • Applied Temple-option - I am pretty proud of my essays for it
  • I completed my application on December 3rd
  • I live in state
  • White, female
  • My high school is one the top 10 schools in PA, many kid have already applied and already been accepted
  • Major: undeclared-liberal arts
  • Visited the campus and absolutely loved it!

I have been involved in my art club and theater, and have been apart of 3 productions and counting.

I volunteer a bit and have had a couple of part-time jobs
I also think that I wrote a very good college essay

I am also currently writing a letter to Temple expressing how much I love it and hope to be accepted. I hope that this helps. I plan on sending it ASAP, just waiting for any suggestions from my counselor.

I have also taken 4 APs and 3 honors

@winnieisfluffy I honestly think you’ll get in  I took 2 AP’s…in my senior year, and I got in. Also those extracurriculars are great. Good luck!

I was accepted last Friday in the College of Liberal Arts at Temple, but my acceptance letter on the portal does not mention anything about a scholarship. Does that mean I did not get one or will it say something different on my acceptance package in the mail?

@Steve2020 You probably didn’t get one. I’d call and ask but pretty much everyone who got a scholarship found it in their letter.

How did they base them? My GPA is above a 4.0 and my SAT scores were around 1180. I hear about others who applied to other colleges at Temple with lower stats then mine that got a scholarship.

@steve2020 for scholarships they look at test scores if submitted AND gpa. They BOTH have to be high for merit. Not one or the other. Unfortunately your test scores are below average for temple. Quickly scrolling through I’m not seeing anyone reporting merit with less than 1180.

@Steve2020 it’s definitely your SAT. Temple doesn’t give a lot of merit because they’re public, so you probably didn’t get any because of your score.

My son’s portal changed to admitted, so that’s great, but we don’t see any type of official letter or merit statement. The only thing we see to indicate that he is in is that the box that now says admitted instead of applicant. There’s a place to click to make a deposit and to sign up for Admitted Students Day, but I don’t see anything that looks like an official letter. Am I missing something?

@novemberdays iy takes a couple of days for the letter to appear.

ok…thank you! I was clicking all over trying to find a letter. We did find out a few days ago directly from Boyer School of Music that he got into the Music Technology program, but needed the official word from Admissions. Now we will wait for the official letter! Hoping for a little bit of merit. Still great news about Boyer as that was an involved process. Proud of him! Thanks again!

The letter my son got in the mail did not have merit scholarships in it but the letter in the portal did have the information. Hope that helps.
