Temple 2024

@Mpatel520 Congratulations! So happy for you!!

Hello! I just got accepted today, but I still haven’t received any information regarding merit based scholarship. Any chance I’m not getting one? I have 1490 SAT, good GPA, and decent ECAs. Sorry, but I’m just too nervous. When should I expect to receive an official acceptance letter? Good luck to you all :).

@sicklyducklingjk I got my official acceptance letter 2 days after I got admitted. It will show up on the Next Steps tab on the portal. You will most likely get some money.

Hello, my daughter applied on 12/25 and hasn’t heard anything as of yet. How long does it take to hear back? She applied to the Boyer College of Music and Dance and has her audition on 2/16

@“Thumper11$” I don’t think she’ll hear until after her audition. At least my dd’s application was in but was listed as incomplete until her dance audition was cleared by Boyer.

@Mpatel520 it may come with your financial aid award that comes out in mid to late February for newly admitted/accepted students but, check back frequently to see if you have to complete steps seeing that I have been accepted since December and had to complete some more paperwork for financial aid so do make sure that you check back as frequently as possible

@sicklyducklingjk Merit aid will come in your acceptance letter which should be posted in the next couple of days. If there’s no aid in there, you have to wait for need-based which comes out in Feb.

@“Thumper11$” She won’t hear back until after her audition.

Oh ok, thank you for the info! I guess every school has different procedures for acceptance. She has been accepted to a few schools academically prior to her audition. Was hoping Temple would do the same bc this is her top choice and we are anxious.

@“Thumper11$” we have definitely found that every school is different! Best of luck to your dd. Hope she hears good news soon!

I’ve noticed that most of the people that applied Temple option received merit is this the case? I’ve been accepted since November and did not receive merit in my letter.

Congrats, Mpatel520!

I called Temple - turns out my D got $5k merit. Barely anything in light of a $45 OOS ticket price. Good luck to all!

@“Jolynne Smyth” , Congratulations! It wasn’t in your letter, huh?

They sent me back to the portal and it seemed to be in the original letter (although for the life of me I couldn’t remember seeing the dollar figure - and the admissions person I spoke to said that she didn’t see the number either and would update it). So I think they posted something corrected. Either way - not a ton, but it’s something. Thanks for the good wishes!!

Does temple re-evaluate merit-based scholarship? I got a $20k/y scholarship, but I have another document that might make me a potential candidate for the full-tuition scholarship. Should I send them an email?

Edit: I’m an international student, so I’m not eligible for financial aid. If I get a full-tuition scholarship, I’m going to commit to Temple.

@supbrodasis 20k/yr is one of the largest scholarships Temple gives. I don’t think you’ll be able to get any more from them since you’re international.

@“Jolynne Smyth” So happy your daughter got something at least! Gives me hope for my son for next year, although every year is different.

Thanks, momandslp! Good luck to your son for next year! I think they do a fair bit based on gpa/sat since they are so large (although they do offer test optional). If I could have gotten my daughter to study more & retake the SAT one last time that might have upped the money (will never know, though! )

@“Jolynne Smyth” - Same thing happened to my kid. Just a generic acceptance packet. There is a note in portal that he received a scholarship, but I need to call. I wonder if they had a glitch in the system.

Good luck, UNYMom! I could swear there was no money indicated initially and admissions acknowledged that they’d fix it (it wasn’t the financial aid dept but admissions, fwiw!) .
