Temple 2024

I’ve been following the portal waiting for Financial Aid to show up (hopefully) and today my son’s merit award is visible in the Financial Aid portal but I don’t see any need-based aid (yet?). I’m not sure if we’ll receive any or not since all schools have varied so far.

Has any need-based aid shown up for anyone else?

@OceanIsle Need-based won’t be available until mid-February, and its released on a rolling basis (no particular order). So it won’t be available for another couple of days.

They said full financial aid packages would be out mid February, so hopefully within the coming weeks!

Yeah but seeing the merit award in there is a new development so I was hoping that we are in the “mid-Feb” range already (Feb 10-20). ?

Update: the info is now in our portal.

Just got my financial package in the portal…wish me luck lol.

I’m a little unclear on how tuition works. It looks like Fox costs significantly more ($3,000-$4,000 more per year or something)?

S20 originally applied to Fox but switched to Undecided before he was admitted.

When do students declare a major? Can they take Gen Ed classes and then switch to Fox if they so choose? This will all have to be factored in if someone is to compare tuition offers.

I do believe Fox costs a bit more from what I’ve heard. I’m not sure when you have to declare a major but I would call the school.

Good luck to everyone on their decisions! We officially declined Temple… even with the merit - the price tag is too big.

@Jenibv Sorry to hear that. Are you out of state?

@historyfreakmida yes - and the out of state tuition is too much! Even with the merit.

Where does it show the cost to attend Temple on the financial aid page?

@rickqwert There is no official cost of attendance just yet. They decide that July before the term starts. You can see what the estimated cost would be on their tuition calculator and adjust it to your circumstances (major, meal plan, etc).

@historyfreakmida In the cost and aids tab if you press “View your current financial aid offer” it’ll show your estimated cost of attendance.

So, I was accepted into the Musical Theatre BFA program - and I am thrilled. I scored a 1280 on my SAT , have a weighted GPA of 4.52 and will graduate with 7 AP classes and two Dual Enrollment classes. I am ranked 10th out of 360 students in my graduating class. So far under my Financial Aid there is nothing listed. It is simply blank… I am hoping I will qualify for some kind of scholarship with those stats? Does anyone have any idea what typically qualifies ? It is out of state for me and I really want to be able to go!!! Help!

@DramaLove2020 congrats! You should receive any merit aid information soon after your acceptance. If you scroll through this thread, many of us have listed the $$ received along with stats. My dd got the $14K/year OOS scholarship with ACT 32/GPA 3.98/4.38. Good luck!

Son got into Fox , from OOS but like JenIbv I think the cost will be a bridge to far, he did get a 5k merit ( 1300 29act 3.89) but with a cost of about 45 k after merit aid, I think Rutgers is looking like a better option at 25K. Good luck to everyone still waiting.

I got my award letter but it only included grants and no loans. Temple is a likely for me so not getting any scholarships is a bit confusing to me. Do they release scholarships at a later date and release need based first?

@zahriana any merit aid will be listed in your acceptance letter.

@zahriana Okay so actually with an 1160 and a 3.52, Temple is not a likely. More of a match school. That’s likely why you didn’t get merit aid. If you scroll through this thread, those with merit aid most likely have a 1300+ or applied via Temple option (Or is OOS).

FYI my son just declined his spot in Fox school of business so there is one spot for a waitlist kid. Best of luck to all the math did not work out for us.
