Temple Admissions Class of 2021

@philamk The Temple Option is where you do not submit your SAT/ACT scores and write short essay answers to questions about yourself. I applied through that, seeing as my SAT does not reflect my other stats. It gives Temple the option to view you as a person rather than just a few numbers. Hopefully I’ll hear back soon! This wait is driving me insane. Ha!

Oh I see, I applied as a transfer and if you have over a certain number of credits (I have a ton) you don’t need to submit a high school transcript or SAT scores. I just had to fill out identity stuff, send a transcript from my current school, talk about my extracurriculars and write an essay. Not too bad! It definitely wasn’t called “temple option”, it was just a normal transfer app. Best of luck to you! Hopefully you’ll hear soon! @adam2k17

@philamk Thank you so much! Again, congrats on the acceptance!

I got 3k merit, and waiting on financial aid now. It’s supposed to say “Your Financial Aid Award Letter is Not Available At This Time” when you check your letter right?

New poster. Son applied 8 weeks ago so hoping for decision pretty soon. Temple his first choice, but he’s on the bubble: 3.49 gpa, 1130 new SAT. I’ll update either way when he hears so other bubble kids have some insight. (Thankfully I’ve been through this before so I don’t get as stressed as I did first time around with older son).

@brucemag Thank you. I have a somewhat similar GPA but used the Temple Option so I will be looking for any new updates! I applied around the same time as well. I think we should be getting an update within the next 2 weeks, if not sooner. Hopefully!

@BradyBromide Read this thread’s pages 1-10, there’s some info about financial aid letters I believe. Or check Temple’s website! Congrats!

@BradyBromide do you mind me asking what sort of gpa/extracurriculars you have? I’m a transfer who was accepted to temple about a week ago and i’m trying to figure out what they’ll offer me. And how long did it take between getting your acceptance and being sent merit award info? Congrats on your acceptance!

Got my financial aid. OOS $5,000 grant and like $3,000 total of loans. Total cost still about 40k lol help

@DayKnight I received my acceptance letter back a few weeks ago and it said the same thing, but I recently got another email from Temple with merit money. There’s still hope!

@philamk I don’t have much of a loaded resume as other people, but I have a 3.91 GPA with a 1340 new SAT, extracurriculars in robotics, and SASE (Asian oriented science/business networking club). I applied for Fox and had focus on business for the clubs mentioned.

They offered me 3,000 merit and I got my financial letter about two hours ago (as of this post). I got about 8.6k (including loans) from the FAFSA. Coupled with 3k from the merit, it should cost around 10k of bigger loans a year.

Got our financial aide award letter for the year … the original 5,000 scholarship awarded, then added was 1500 work study, 6,000 temple grant and then the federal loan

… I thought it interesting they didn’t provide the total cost of tuition and housing on the award letter

@mykidscheer probably because the tuition and housing fees are not finalized until July.

That seems odd that they would not say the tuition and housing costs, all the other letters we have received have that spelled out very clearly. Are you OOS? The College Board, on their net price calculator, still has the OOS tuition at $50,000 with the total cost of attendance at $65,000, but that obviously has to be a mistake.

You can guesstimate by looking at the tuition and housing from last year and then add 2%

On the TUportal you can check under “cost & aid” to see how much your semester/year will cost. Just input the data and it will tell you.

@adam2k17 yes but keep in mind that is 2016-2017, 2017-2018 is not finalized until July and you can guesstimate it to be about 2% higher.

@jnkam24 ah, very true! I hope they do not raise it too high. No matter what college, tuition is just outrageous nowadays. Luckily Temple has kept their costs somewhat, moderately low for the great education they provide.

Everyone check your financial aid letter carefully. My son’s was incorrect. The financial aid office is working on correcting it now.

accepted to fox school!!

Congrats @cylovingpsu ! When did you apply? And when exactly did you receive your acceptance?
